Default MIR Import Revolution Class Weights Input

We are finalizing the rule book and looking for the participating racers input on weights for the classes. We are looking to make some changes in order to help the racers not have to carry extra weight to help with reliability in all of our classes. The goal of our events is make the rulebook as racer friendly as possible so you guys can come out and race and have parts survive the weekend and go on to race the next. In this economy we realize money is tight for all racers and weight can make or break someone on a stock trans and help everyone not tear their cars up and race on a smaller budget.

2011 Class Structure Basic Rules

True Street Air to Air 24.5 or 25's Slicks Single Power Adder
67mm weight?
62mm weight?

Super Street ("SFWD") Air to Air 24.5 or 25's Slicks Single Power Adder
72mm weight?

Street Fighter ("Outlaw FWD") Air to Water or Air, 26's Dual Power Adder.
72mm A2A/W weight?

As for Allmotor we are working with Mr Gavio to have a unified rulebook for the Mid Atlantic area.

Thank You

We'd like to hear some more input if we can. Steve and I will be meeting this week and trying to finalize things this week.

We are trying to work with cars that are North of us and there combos too. We know that some of them are lighter than our weights because they are trying not to hurt parts. What are your thoughts?

In True Street, Super Street (SFWD), and Street Fighter (Outlaw Street) all cars can run exhaust through the hood, widened front fenders, and wont need mufflers.

We are going to get everything finalized as soon as we can and get the import revolution site updates soon (www.importrevo.com) and have all of the rules posted there so they are easy for everyone to find. Also we will be using the same rules at the World Cup Finals for the Import cars as we do at the Import Revolution event.

So let's hear some input good or bad. Because this will be for both events at MIR this year. If we can make the Import Revolution event successful, then I would like to add a Spring Import Revoltion event to the schedule in 2012. So we could possibly have 3 dates at MIR in 2012. I want to get this jumping like we had it in the NOPI days. NOPI always stated that MIR was their strongest events that they had on their entire schedule. We need all of your help to get it back this way.

Super Street and True Street will be a single power adder class. Both classes are going to pared with a larger variety of single power adder cars from other makes in order to make room for newer variety of cars for both events. There is no weight penalties for 4cyl fwd autos.

You can count me out then I built my car for S/FWD 5 years ago and the rules have never changed but now you want to change them

Don't call it a S/FWD class because its not

X2 I think this would be your best choice. Allows a lot of options for which class people can fit into. Big props to Jason for looking out for us. I'm sure you won't be disappointed. I think NSCRA gave up on MD events too soon but guess I can't blame them with the turnouts.

just my opinion. i run a crx and for me to make the weight for true street at 2400 lbs, i have to add 150 lbs..i think 2300 lbs is a good weight since thats what i run all year at other races. and with the new 62mm almost making the power the 67mm are . i say
62mm 2200lbs
67mm 2300lbs

I think the weights should be lowered to help with parts breakage and bring in your budget built cars that cant afford to add all the extra weight.

Lets face it no matter what you make the class weigh the front runners will always be the front runners. You cant stop it.

My car weights 2400lbs+ (I'm racing it at that weight no matter what they are) and I want to see the weight come off. Why should someone be penalized for building a light car?

those 62mm gotta be pushed hard to tap what the 67mm can do then start to fall off pretty fast i agree with 2400lbs for 67mm cars its always been that way.

62mm 2200lbs
67mm 2400lbs

it hasnt always been that weight... 08-09 mir import events where NO minimum weights and 09 world cup was 2300 lbs for true street with 67 mm.. but like i said just my opinion. would just like to see more people show up to the races.

off topic but the only thing you guys need to change is mandatory real catch pan with proper lip all around to keep oil from going on track.

so many breakdowns not even funny.

This is true, as weights were increased it pushed allot of lighter guys out the class.

I have spoken to allot of true street guys since WCF and there is common theme among allot of them about the weight and driveline issues. These are guys bottom half of the field, some didn't even qualify. Many are on 4 or 5 year old 67's stock trans, stock axles, ram horns, basic setups, pretty much the original TS cars. They have to bolt on a extra 150 plus pounds to come out and immediately have drive line issues when their cars were reliable all year.

At WCF many expressed they wont do it again next year, other guys stopped racing TS over the weight. They dont care about the top of the field they just want to be able race their car at the weight it is and not destroy parts.

It would be great if everyone could afford a dog box and 5.9's and bellhousings, but the great majority of the TS cars are still very tight budget built cars. Fast guys will be fast no matter what the rules, and it seems the weight isn't a big deal to them yet is a very big deal to others.
