If I were to say unbolt my cat from my header i.e. open header at the track will I get and CELs? Or will the O2 sensor think everything is fine? Why or why not, thanks!

Also, I am confused about this too: My bud had a test pipe in his 96 and never got any codes...left the O2 sensors in...

 

My O2 was hanging from my car for about a month before it finally threw a CEL.

 

Ok so was that becuase it got damaged from hanging out there or was it something else?

As long as the O2 sensor info only affects fuel/timing when it's BAD this should work fine. It wil think my car is running like a charm then?

 

since the O² sensor is after the cat in OBD2 cars, you should get a code....I ran open header for 1 night and it didn't give me a code

 

Yeah, I had a gutted cat on my 98 Lude and it only threw a code after a week.
