Hello gentlemen. I have a 2008 Honda CRV LX and my A/C compressor took a permanent vacation. My question is that how labor intensive is it to change one of these? Is there a write up or a specific instructions manual that tells one how to change it? I have access to a friends shop/tools and lift and was going to attempt to change it on my own. I am mechanically inclined enough to complete the Job and it would be even better if there was some type of write up floating around somewhere.
I have contacted a few shops regarding how many labor hours it would take and what their price on a new compressor would be. They all stated they will look into it and call me back with pricing. It has been 1 day already so I guess while I wait I figured I would ask in here. How many labor hours does this type of Job usually require? I have looked for new compressors online and have found them in the $385-$420 range. Are these reasonable prices? I am asking these of course so I can get a ball park of what I can expect to pay if I decide to take it to someone for repair. My friends shop of course can offer me a discount but I would still like to know the price other places would probably charge. I have not called honda regarding this as the car is not under warranty and I will surely see butterflies flying out of my wallet after they are through with me.
Thank you for any insight on this issue.

It's not too difficult, I think the major issue for you will be the air conditioning fluid, you need to empty the A/C system properly so that you don't just empty it out into the atmosphere. Then you would need to refill the A/C system once you have installed the new one.
If you are not sure about taking on this job, then I suggest that you don't.
Just have a professional take care of it.

Theres a recall from Honda on these and they extended it to 100K or 7years. 2002-2008 years only
So take it into honda and let them deal with it for free.

The problem she is having is that the AC comes on and works fine, then starts shooting out "snow" and then it will hardly blow. This is also happening with the heat minus the snow
