i finally got the code for my 08 crv radio today. power it up.
and found out that it has the auto volume limiter system.
at around 18-20 volume it starts cutting bass.
it gets louder but bass stays same,
crv owners. did you nottice that as well?
very conveniently honda sells a bass speaker system( addon woofers and amplifier to power them) for all new basic stereo systems.

they do that so you don't damage the speakers with too much bass, at least that's what I'd hope would be the reason for it. My dad's car had one of the speakers get blown and its a newer car but I think it was because he was listening to low quality sound more than anything else.

they do that so they can get away with cheaper speakers lol
and when a salesman turns it to 18 volume at the dealership it sounds amazing and rich and deep bass.
once you drive off the lot and turn the **** to 22 you find out that its where great bass ends lol
then the extra bass kit comes in to the rescue for additional 300 dollars+ labor lol
great sales tactics

well keep in mind that when you turn up the volume, you're adding more power to the speakers. I'd imagine bass had a larger effect on a speaker than higher frequency audio, so you're more likely to damage the speaker with too much bass than just loud, high frequency sound. I mean look at how speakers move when you have a lot of bass.. The speakers are designed for good quality mid range and tweeters for high range aren't designed for the high movement that lots of bass would require, so saying that the speakers "are crap" I don't think is very fair. They're giving you a certain amount of bass, if you want more, you should get a subwoofer which they're offering. They don't want people inadvertently destroying their speakers because they're trying overcompensate for not having a subwoofer..
