jdm b16a block serial # identification
So hey I already know there are tons of other threads out there with info stating which is which. I want some insight....
There are two 1st gen b16 blocks...there is a 1 million series and a 5 million series...the 5 million series for 1st gen will be 50xxxxx or 52xxxxx. The 2nd gen b16a has a 5 million series # too but will always be 54xxxxx. Now for the 1st gen that is a 1 million series. I have always seen 10xxxxx or 12xxxxx. I have a sir2 swap...came with 92 stamped on the head, p30 stamped on the intake mani, has the sir2 cams, the p30 pistons, but the block is a 14xxxxx. <-----WTF is that!?!?!? I believe it might be an early sir2 motor that didn't yet transition into the 54xxxxx series block and it came w/ a pr3 valvecover. Why have I never ever seen a 14xxxxx block? Thats why I want some insight of what you guys think. Post pics if your block has 14xxxxx, i wanna see

All i know is that on the the first gen b16 blocks if there is a number 1 starting the serial, it was automatic. which had less power. If it had 5 than it was a standard
hmmm, never heard that before...i know the automatics were slower due to the fact that a 4 speed w/ a b16 is stupid slow, and the smaller cams. But this motor came with the p30 pistons and the sir2 (manual) cams, p30 intake mani, but also came with a pr3 valvecover and a weird serial number. I think it would be odd to get a low mileage jdm motor that was pieced together in japan.
