Default My 96 Accord EX Turbo build

Hello everyone. ive been on this site for a while but havent really posted much cept in the marketplace threads. Neways, i came across a 96 accord ex not to long ago, completly stock with around 225,xxx miles on original motor/trans. i done a lil to the car so far, including

Kyb struts
Eibach lowing springs
17" rims
Intake
Greddy Evo2 muffler

thts about it i think. But since driving this car, ive been wantin to get sum more power out of it. So ive been thinkin of a H22 swap or just do a mild F22 build with turbo. and i think im goin with turbo since ive alrdy had one turbo car. (93 escort GT..lol) and i hate not having boost. Ive alrdy made out a lil list of what all i think i need to get. I just wanted to get everyones opinion and suggesting on my list and what all i need to do cuz i havent boosted a honda before and its alot diff from my old escort.

F22b1 engine
Engine Rebuild kit
AEM adjustable cam gear
450cc dsm injectors
190 or 255lph walboro fuel pump
ARP headstuds
Headgasket (still looking for one)
Hondata intake mani gasket
Gude Intake Manifold
Omni 70mm throttle body
Motor Mounts (proly gonna fill stock mounts)
T3/T4 57 trim turbo (Still looking around)
Turbo manifold (Still looking for one)
2.5" intercooler piping kit with Intercooler/Black in color
Triple gauge pod
AEM Boost Gauge
AEM Wideband
AEM Oil Press gauge
Greddy Turbo Timer
HKS bov
3" exhaust system with Magnaflow cat and keep my Greddy evo2 muffler
Hallman MBC (if i dont get a internal gated turbo)
38mm wastegate (if i dont get internal gated turbo)
Golden Eagle Vacuum box
Fidnaza Flywheel
F1 stage 2 clutch kit
Chipped ECU (still looking around)

i think thats about it. i may be forgettin sum stuff. im gonna start ordering stuff in the next few weeks. proly be a few months before i get everything. Bills sucks. lol But neways, lemme kno what u guys think. and ill have more pics up when i can take better ones. car is dirty in the pics cuz of all the damn pollen thts been falling lately. Also the car looking like its sittin higher than it really is cuz the way im parkin on a small hill. lol

Lookin good sir! I also have a 97 Accord that I'm building. I'm getting ready to drop my n/a H22a motor in the car. So I'm going to biased and say go with the H22 swap. Let me know if you have any questions.

Agree. The a stock head gasket is just fine. Arp headstuds are good. Look at phearable. net for your ecu needs. They are a HT sponsor and I 've had great dealings with them. Looks good. As far as stealth turbo goes good luck with that.

Go OEM Headgasket. You'll thank yourself later down the road.

so i found out lastnite tht my oil pan gasket is leakin and my front motor mount rubber inside is gone so the car shakes like hell under acceleration. so i will be gettin my other engine soon and hurry and get it rebuilt and put it in and just add on parts as i go. instead of waitin till i had everything and put it all in at one time.

Also still tryin to find some aftermarket motor mounts and cant seem to find them newhere. does the H22 and F22 mounts the same?

So i went today and picked up my spare non-vtec motor and an extra vtec head tht way i wont have to pull my head or engine while im doin this build cuz this is my only car. Got a great deal on the stuff, only $75 for everything. running or not, still is a good deal. the Non-vtec motor had a blown headgasket and the vtec head has a burnt/broke valve which im really not worried about any of this cuz im goin to completly rebuild the motor with all new OEM parts besides ARP headstuds. neways, enough talkin, heres a few pics i took 2day.

Sorry for sum of the pics being blurry, dont have a great cam. lol

Motor in the trunk

Inside the Non-Vtec head

Head off

Pistons Walls doesnt seem bad. just dirty. cant feel any groves or pits when i rub my finger across it. think it just needs a hone and should be good.

Where the headgasket blew. has dirt on it from when i dropped it. lol

Vtec head, seems pretty clean but like i said, gonna tear it all down and send it to my buddys shop and get it cleaned, checked and ported and polished and port matched.

The turbo im thinkin of gettin. its a AiResearch that has been rebuilt with brand new Garret internals.

B-series turbo mani im thinkin of cuttin the exhaust flange off and gettin it mated to a F22 one. Still dk yet. i can get the turbo and mani for $100

Enjoy.

:UPDATE 4-11-11:

got my block back from the machine shop today. they said everything was good. the piston walls are in good shape n dont need honeing or nething, just cleaned. and got the crank polished up. all for free. thanks to my buddy. but i took the block out and pressure washed it, still gotta get sum good cleaner and soak it down to get all the stuck on **** off. ill have sum pics up 2nite when i get off work. Also picked up my turbo and in the works of gettin my custom F-series ramhorn made. which will take a few weeks. but im in no hurry. longs it gets done right.

Sick build dude, can't wait to see the results. I am also trying to decide between boosting my F22 or getting an H22. If I decide to get an H22 I am going to boost it down the line but not enough money right now... From what I've read the non-vtec (f22b2) head is better for boost due to better flow.
