Oil Pan Gasket Change = Loud Grinding Noise? Please Help.
So yesterday I changed the oil pan gasket on my mothers 2000 Acura Integra GS 1.8 Liter DOHC and now when I turn the key there's a very loud grinding noise!
Short of me replacing the oil with penny nails, which I didn't do, how could this happen? Please help, she needs this car to get to work and I just turned an oil leak into a monster.

Well to change the oil pan gasket, you have to drain the oil, remove the lower half of the exhaust manifold, and remove the driveplate/flywheel cover. Are you sure you got everything put back correctly?
I'm pretty sure I put everything back together correctly and I know I put 4 1/2 quarts back in. Is the only possible thing that somehow the flywheel cover is rubbing? It doesn't look like it is but I don't see how any of the other things removed in doing this job could account for making this kind of hellish noise. The car is still up on ramps, would this angle stop the oil from getting in somewhere important? I'm grasping here.
Thank you for your help. If the cover is the only reason than I'll screw with that till the noise goes away or my head explodes.

I managed to pull the shield a little farther away from the fly wheel and *poof* no more noise. Little POS must have gotten bent and was rubbing. Thanks for your help and reassurance. I get unsure of myself when working on anything but my '77 VW. TY
Will she be letting you work on her car again??
