Default Tire Size

I currently running 16"x 6.5" rims, and they have 205 45 16" tyres (tires) on them. Its coming up for me to chance the tires. Is this the best size tire for the rim.Could i drop to 40 profile. I understand this will effect the speedo will i notice the change in gearing. Is this a good move or a bad move.

what wheels do you have on what car. i have the same size wheel and am running 205/40/16 and have no probs. your speedo will read about 4 mph slower. meaning to go 45 your speedo will need to say 49-50ish. what tires are you trying to get in that size? im having a hard time finding good tires in that size.

205/45/16 is what you need for a near perfect fitment. Your speedo shouldn't be off any.
