Default rear shocks?

I just ordered rear Kyb struts for my 95 gsr. I have skunk2 adjustable coilovers on now, but need to find a how-to on replacing the struts and keeping the coilovers. any help??

There is a free pdf file of the Helm's manual for the 94+ Integras floating around on the net. Relatively easy to find without posting link because of TOS and such.

This should help you out, I found the rear struts to be a lot easier than the fronts.

The problem is that little cup the perch slides into on the rear struts it won't let you thread the coilovers down anymore that's why your maxed out and still sitting high you can either cut that little cup down so you can thread down the perch more or you could cut the springs If your just going for looks and don't mind a harsher ride my suggestion would be to take one of the lock nuts off of the perch since your gonna max them out the other nut will be sitting on the strut you won have to worry about it going anywhere

O and as for replacing the strut and swapping the coilovers over just undo the 2 14mm nuts uptop and the 2 17s on the lower control arm take the strut out, get the top hat off slide the coilover up off the strut and put it on the new ones put the top hat on and then bolt it back in the reverse way you took it out and repeat for the other side

Say what? The rear "cup" (spring perch) is welded on nearly all shocks available for Integras, aside from Koni Sports and maybe one model of Bilstein shocks.

i thought that too, untill i saw it my self. use a hammer and hammer it off. there's actually a molded lip that the cup sits on.

unless a civic is different from a teg.

What brand of shocks are you referring to?

oem honda shocks. i to thought all the oem honda ones are welded. almost fell over when i got my hatch (which was droped), with oem shocks, and the rear cup was turned up side down.

if you look closely, it's a rolled lip that the cup sits on. looks like the manufacture pressed the cup on, and then painted over it to make it look welded, or one piece.

if i only had an extra set that i was willing to take apart, id take picks and show it.

okay well that's OEM shocks. I'm pretty sure most, if not all other aftermarket shocks aside from Koni Sports and maybe one model of Bilstein shocks has the perches welded on. I could be wrong, but I'm fairly certain.

you might be right on other aftermarket shocks. but still with oem, i thought they were welded too.

It's like the brake line brackets. On OEM shocks you can slip them off with a hammer (you have to use them on Koni shocks since they don't come with them) but on other shocks with the brake line bracket included, they're welded on.

I would not change to KYB. id use the skunk2 and turn stuff around or get a shorter spring.
