Default ANNOYING CEL

OBD1 swapped b series, so occasionally my CEL will come on while im driving but not all the time. when it comes on the car doesnt drive any differently. when i go to restart the car its gone.... that means i cant check what it is. i tried to jump the connector today and all i get is the CEL blinkly quickly 8 times then 9 times then 8 times then 9 times, with no long blinks. i dont know what to do i wanna fix what ever the CEL is i just have no idea is it okay to check the CEL while the car is running? this may be the only way i can check to see what it is. please any advice will help

FYI once the CEL is triggered the code is stored in your ECU until you reset it. Your car doesn't need to be running to check it (matter of fact there's no reason why it should be running while you are checking it). So now you have the codes and a link to figure out what they mean...
