i jus swapped a bone stock gsr into my 94 hatch...when i get on it it sputters and breaks up around 3k to redline..when i dont get it on it it drives fine..tune up wise everything is brand new..plugs wires rotor cap..basics..i dont wanna throw parts and waste money..anyone else ever have this problem?..has anyone ever sucessfully fixed and understood the problem?..hellppp!!

 

Are you using the correct ECU?

 

yes brand new from honda p72 manual ecu

 

do you have to add water or coolant to your radiator on a regular basis?? your headgasket migth be going bad and leaks coolant into your cylinders and causes your car to sputter..

 

i added a little more coolant to the resevoir but that was a couple days afteri didnt the swap..probably jus low from the refill possibly didnt add enough in the first place..nothing noticeable other then that..any other suggestions?

 

does it feel like quick misfiring?and does your rpm needle act up too?

 

yea like quick bursts needle g0es with the missfire..only at full throttle..kinda compared to a car breaking up in boost..shakes bogges down and stuff like that..

 

hmmm.....maybe ignition control module?

try to borrow a friends distributor the known to work and see what happens.

i had a gsr several years back.and i noticed at first the rpm needle would bounce all crazy when on trottle.then one day somehow my rotor came loose and fell off.and after that i replaced cap and rotor with new ones and then it would feel like quick misfires and crap when on trottle only.guess when rotor fell off it finalty made icm crap out.
