wiring autometer a/f ratio straight 2 o2 HELP!
Hey any advise or help would be appreciate, I have a type r motor i bought a autometer air fuel ratio. But i forgot my car doesnt has any sensor on it and i wanted to install the a/f ratio straight to the o2 on the cat any ideas on which color wiring i shoud connect too.
Do you have a wideband sensor that you purchased with the meter? If not, the narrowband one that's on the cat won't help you... they are essentially binary, meaning, AFR=14.7, or NOT.
Widebands give you a (typically) 0-5V signal that indicates a range of AFR from about 9.5:1 to somewhere in the 16-18:1 AFR - depending upon the sensor.

So is your meter made for a narrowband sensor? If so, I suppose it reads something like rich, lean, or right on (stoich)?
If narrow, here's the color codes for the secondary O2 sensor (back of the cat) on my 96 GSR:
Blue/Red (harness) or white (leads on the sensor itself) - output to ECU/meter
Orn/Blu (harness) or green (leads on the sensor itself) - sensor ground to ECU
If you connect to the primary O2 sensor, wire colors on the sensor itself are the same, but the harness colors differ and you'll find it in the engine compartment on the back side of the engine.. probably easier to wire to the rear one if you have an OBD2 (96 or later) car.
Good luck
It actually comes up through the floor behind the stereo, under the carpet. You should be able to reach it without taking the dash or plastic off.
