94 del sol - low end power issue
Not a lot of info to go off of. Are you bogging? Sputtering? Hesitation? Or is it not as fast you you think it should be? Did you test drive it prior to buying? What did the previous owner say about it? Last tune up?
I got it off a buddy who thinks he knows a lot about cars but he don't so information from him is useless. But I just did full tune up. Oil change. Both motor and trans. It I guess kinda bogs but not really it just takes forever to get threw lower rpms. It got worse when I took stock header off and put a dc header on... I think wot the intake and full exhaust. On stock motor. No cams or injectors. It's to much flow and the engine can't get push everything that fast. Or the timing is off. As in retarded. But idk Honda are a whole new ball game for me.. my buddy has a stock b18 91 integra and he walks me. Off the line until we get around 60 and I can keep it in vtec threw the shifts. Pretty much it has no power till third....

No lights right now but I don't really beat on it but one time I did I shifted at red line witch is 8000 and it threw light and would not go above 3500 rpm till I shut car off and back on . Buddy who had it before me told me knock sensor is bad. But idk . I don't have a obd1 scanner. And no I didn't check timing Wat marks and I looking at I'm useto American cars.
It might be like I said I don't take it that high really I Normaly shift at 6500 7000 when I'm messing around I don't beat on it really. And would a bad knock sensor do that?
When you said that your friend had a stock integra that beats you down low makes me think your problem might be the size of your exhaust is too big to create enough backpressure to get you moving in the lower rpm range.
Honda really does a pretty good job of matching engine size and exhaust to maximize performance. Typically, when you start increasing the size of the exhaust without supercharging or turbo, low-end performance suffers. You never gave any information about the "full exhaust" so it's a little difficult to say for sure.

it might. i've never had to deal with knock sensors much. but i'd imagine if it was faulty the ECU would see it and not want to rock in vtec at 8 grand. try replacing it with a working one. and see what happens.
...no no and backpressure no.
if that were true the 3" exhaust setup would be wrong. and dyno's and track times say otherwise. some even on STOCK cars.

The only thing I know on exhaust is that the heade is dc. Idk Wat cat back is it does not say. But now I have yet another problem it revs by its self to 3 grand. I was driving after it rained noticed it was a little jumpy when came to stop it started to rev by its self. Think a simple throttle sensor?
