Default bad differential,maybe?or clutch?

ok.ive searched on this but still kinda fuzzy.

well i bought me a integra about month ago.."apparantly needing a clutch".
i was iffy when i bought it but at the same time it was pretty clean and complete on the side, body had few dents.and its pretty much all stock.

well when i got to thinking of it i asked myself, what if its the differential?

heres a list of the symptoms.(the car still turns on)

1.while engine runing.if you put in gear(any 1-5)and let go of the clutch.it will bearly move.you can feel clutch grab.engine will not turn off though.have to get it up to like 6,000 rpm for it to start to roll.probably be like if somebody was pushing you,lol but like up a hill.
2.today i put it on jack stands.passenger side wheel turns freely.drivers side is more difficult.it will spin but as soon as you let go whiile spining it it will stop.
3.well i had engine running, put it in gear.and the passenger side was spining.pretty quick.and the drivers side nothing at all.only time it would spin is if you rev it up(not sure what rpm) cause i was trying to see the wheel.but at the certain rpm they would both go forward.from what i thought one is suposed to go backwards..or i thought because on my last hatch with a h22 swap im pretty sure it did.

and while searching i read it they both go forward that it would possbly be lsd tranny?
but this is the gsr tranny,it has maching vin # to the engine and the car.and from what i searched only usdm integra with lsd is itr.

ive already bought a clutch kit.just gathering a few more things together to do it.but im just curios if anyone can help me.i dont want to be buying more parts for it then i find out differential is bad after spending all that $.
id rather just part it out and get somthing else.

any thought or info would be thankful.

#1 definitely sounds like the clutch is slipping. I don't see how the differential could cause that sort of issue.

When the car is off the ground, engine off, car in gear, if you turn one wheel the other wheel should rotate the opposite direction. With car in neutral, each wheel should be able to rotate independently of the other.

thanks for responding.

thats one way i didnt try it.i just had car on.
i will try it tomorrow and see. i was going to start pulling the axles today to see whats up.

anyone know why on one side the wheel doesnt really turn freely?its drivers side.

also if the car is in the air..would both wheels turn if the engine running and in gear(tried 1st and i think 3rd) revving up to 5,000-6,000 rpm?

drivers side maybe will turn few times..possible wheel bearing keeping it from spinning freely?there is no noise..just really stiff to spin by hand or foot..

yeah, it's most likely the caliper dragging. It sounds a lot like a slipping clutch.

only on wheel will spin no matter what while car is running in gear. un less u have a trans with lsd. thats why if your stuck in the mud or snow you will only see that one wheel spinning.

Actually, whichever wheel recieves the least traction will spin. Non LSDs just split torque equally no matter what. So if both wheels recieve equally shitty traction, both will spin.

This is true. I put my car in gear once while off the ground and only one wheel would spin, and my brake calipers were definitely not dragging. Sometimes the pad can touch the rotor just slightly and keep one tire from spinning if there is no other resistance.

Hope you got a flywheel too. Or at the least have yours surfaced.

No one has said this but...why are you revving the motor to 6 grand trying to get it to move? Not good!

It may have been the caliper dragging at first but redlining to get the car to move forward is HELL on the clutch. I think your gunna have to bump up the timeline of replacing that clutch or one day youll be stuck in BFE not able to move

You might have done this already, but check your fluid in your clutch master cylinder. If there's nothing in the lines, it might display similar issues. It'll be an easier fix too if it's just that. Make sure the slave is moving too, I had a VR-4 that gave me hell and I figured it was my slave not moving as much as it should. Hope this helps.

I was gonna go with comp clutch but I ended up gettin a deal from a member, got exedy stage 1 and. He had timing belt and watar pump all new in pakaging so I just picked it all up.I was fixin to order the stage 2 comp clutch bout month but I wasn't sure what to go with..lucky I didn't..thinkk I also skimmed through some posts while googleing sayin they had issues.most were mixed like good and bad...

Well reaon I revved it so high was first off ,the guy I bought it from said needied clutch and he said it kinda drove but would slip..and I test drove it but it was on a hill..so on way back it was up hill and I was in middle of the road lol..but I doubt I revved it passed 6..I imagin like 5 or 5500, but still close to 6..just threw a guestimate..I kinda got nervous takin it that high..plus I thought gsr redline was like 8100?

The lines do have fluid,I know ima drain it all and put fresh fluid in...I know when I drained .the tranny fluid it looks like it never got changed.was pretty dark.

And I'm goin to order me a lighter flywheel since I'm doin clutch,I already got rear main seal..thinkin bout goin ahead and changin the cltch master cylinder while I'm there, not 100% sure yet tho..

And if any of this that I typed is weird, sorry about that,I'm on my phone hahaha..I think my computer has gotten a virus or somthin..

If you change the Master Cylinder, might as well change the slave too. I did the same thing, and ended up having to change both in the end.

The clutch fluid, slave, and master cylinders DO NOT control engagement. So a slipping clutch cannot be fixed by changing fluid or cylinders.

The only way they affect engagement is if they are out of adjustment (master cylinder) or are sticking open (extremely unlikely).

The clutch is engaged mechanically by pressure plate springs. The pedal, master cylinder, slave cylinder, and fluid only control disengagement.

Hey folks..really haven't messed with it.only about 30 mins to and hour at a time..ordered me a act flywheel.so just waiting on that..
The past day I've been trying to get the "bitch pin out".wow..it was a bitch..but I got it..ended up
Breaking a c clamp..I should have taken a pic..

Today I picked up urea grease and few more jaskets.

I think ima just pul whole engine/tranny out.that way I can do timing belt while I'm messing with it
And MAYBE slap my header on.wish I had several extra hundred at least to get aftermarket manifold..but owell.just really need to get it up and driving...also with engine out ill be able to get parts cleaner/brush and clean up around the engine, had frew gaskets leaking oil..

word I did the same thing in 2008 during my 270K mile service. Changed clutch and flywheel, replacing everything in the timing belt area, new gaskets including oil pan, etc. It was so much easier with the engine on a stand.
