Default dohc zc question.

just bought a 1990 civic hatch. motor was with the car but not in it. Owner said it ran fine but he pulled the motor to start building it i guess? So i picked the car up and put the motor in and all. hooked everything up. and its not starting. When the key isnt in the ignition, the check engine light is on and the door chime is going off, just like the key is in and ignition turned on. Motor does crank over when you turn the key though. I assume someone messed up the harness conversion. Is it possible to go to the junkyard and get a like 89 integra harness and ecu and just put that in? Any wires need to be changed? Sorry i searched alot and maybe i just didnt understand how people said it. I am new to hondas.

Sorry I can't personally help you out, but I thought I'd give you a bump.

Unfortunately the dohc zc is an underappreciated engine due to the lack of aftermarket parts, so not many people have them. I had one in my first ef though, you could beat on that thing all day long and it ran like a champ!

Hopefully there are a few people here that can help you out. Good luck man.

x2 on getting the correct ecu. I didn't have the dohc zc ecu and i never got the full potential out of the motor. It was still quick though, just not AS quick.

You need to get an engine harness that matches your chassis.
If its an Si then you either get an adapter harness or change the dizzy plug for Dx and use the 2 extra wires for the ZC cam sensor.
If its a DX or STD then you need to wire it for MPFI.
