so heres what happened i just bought this car a month ago, and thetiming belt and all accessary belts were replaced along with water pump and seals, cell came on and i checked it and it was p0336 which is the crankshaft positioning sensor, so i went to honda and bought a new one installed it, after about 30 miles light came on again, same thing, but this time after the car has been warmed up and drove for about 30 miles it just randomly dies when deccelerating and wont rev past 35 whether its in gear or not, i cna hld the throttle down in neutral and it stops at 3500 almost like a rev limiter. as long as i keep it under 3500 i can drive it but i dont feell comfortable, so i dropped it off at honda this morning just to get another opinion but i would like tooo know what else i could look at, i should have checked the timing when i had it torn apart but i didnt, any and all help would be appreciated, sorry its a 97 civic ex, 5 spd, 97000 miles, completely stock. as far as i know. thanks again

 

Are you experiencing any detonation or pinging? Is your knock sensor plugged in and in good shape?

 

thats funny you say that yesterday after all day of driving in stop and go , i notice a noise only when i hit the throttle thats sounded like pinging, but that was the first and only time i have heard that.
