h22a swap in ef. running really good for two years, untill the other day. car would sputter before vtec, and when vtec pops it cuts in and out. no CEL, oil level is good, no oil leaks. cleaned vtec solenoid, still sputters and kicks in and out of vtec. its lik there is no gas. does it only at high rpms, 3rd and 4th gear pulls. its like vtec oil pressure is not consistant. please any help

 

at hot temp. at idle when i push the clutch in dips down to about 300 to 400 rpms

EGR. Having a very similar problem, and that's what mine is.

I just got it tuned wit Crome because I thought it was the fuel supply to. We just stopes after the 3rd pull cause it was doing that, and tuner mentioned that the oil pump could b going out because of my light weight crank pulley

 

its happend to me b4 guys.when m using the H22a.yeah m very sure dat is bcoz of oil pump..when cold Vtec can on smppthly..but then when Hot the VTEC smetimes on n off but then if too hot Vtec off all the way..so my suggestion change ur oil pump..

now m using H23A

anyways at idle when hot oil reads at 10-12 psi is that ok?

 

yes thats ok. try cleaning your vtec solenoid screen. put the stock crank pulley back on, you're only going to damage your engine without it

right on. just put new oem crank pulley on, re-checking fuel lines and going to hook up a oil psi pressure gauge and use 10w40 oil

 

nope. going to find out in the next few days hopefully. im curious too

 

i had the same problem in my h22 accord it ended up being my fuel pump and a combo of running the wrong gas i was running 87 on my jdm h22 clogged some things up.

 

im hoping it has to do with my fuel supply, cause i really dont want to replace my oil pump yet lol

 

yeah, no fun at all but the only thing with mine though was the cel would flash then turn off... but it did the same exact thing yours is described as doing.

 

thats where i get confused, no CEL, even when it cuts in and out, its weird. never ran into this kind of problem

 

have you changed the o2 sensors at all or recently my ek had the same problem my accord did and it ended up being my o2 since its obd1 you should on have the 1 sensor check the sensor to see if its frayed or really dirty.

 

to tell you the truth its old lol. had the same o2 when i had a bad header leak from the slip on part. got that fixed but didnt replace the o2. i got an extra o2 sensor too. i should use it and see what happens

 

definaly do that the o2 effects all the fuel curves but what i dont get is why the check engine isnt coming on??? thats got me baffled you sure it even works?? lol

 

yea it works. bulb is still there and working. tryed checking for codes, but no codes.

Make sure you have the right amount of oil.

Do you base your oil level on the stick, or how many litres you put in?

With H2B and H22's in EF's the motor is almost always tilted forward, so the oil level holes become useless.
