The k motor has alot more potential with all the companies making parts for them but it is pretty expensive, if it comes down to a budget go with a j series. Now if you want to make some huge power all motor or boost go ahead with a k. Check out j32a.com or k20a.org those 2 sites will give you plenty of info.

I've heard sourcing a manual tranny for a J-swap can be a pain in the ***, especially if you want a six-speed, with them costing somewhere in the neighborhood of 1200 bucks just for the tranny itself. This was about a year ago so things might be different now.

Civic Type R spindles will work. They are 5 bolt. I believe you can also make the CRV spindles work. K-Pro is the Hondata programming ECU system that you need to tune a newer Honda motor, and to disable the immobilizer to allow the engine to start.

Here's a good suggestion for you. Go to K20a.org and check there. Pay very close attention to the FAQs. Find a thread that outlines complete swaps and follow that as a guide as close as you can. Do not deviate from the guide of the parts list.

Ktuned now makes an immobilizer to get rid of the need for kpro. But you still have to run the stock basemap.

haha k has more power than j epic...... j is still relatively new there not that many aftermarket products for it yet but there are in production and once they come out nothing stopn jswap from ruling. you can get 250-315whp STOCK with a j32 dependly on tune and motor health. to get a k to do that is money.

only bad thing about j is the hood no way around cutting it. it has to be cut no way out.

Or get a cowl hood. Cervini used to make one. Don't know if they still do.

K's are making more power now, in the end of the day k's will still be up there with the j series in competition, until then all you can do is sit an wait to see exactly how the j performs with the aftermarket parts.

stock k are most deffinaly not. my boy k20 crx with ihe is only making 220 on a fully dyno tune. and my boy j32 eg hatch stock to the bone stock headers stock everything is making 250 stock. after dyno tune and custom headers 265.
stock to stock j raps k. built wise u cant compare yet bc j has no aftermarket parts for it. unless u know how to build cam and ****

I wasnt talking about stock motors, I have yet to see an 10 second j series, there are plenty of k's doing it. While the j series does make more power when you compare them stock to stock, in a race the k most of the time wins. Now if you do know how to build the j and mess around with their trannys they can compete thats for sure. It comes down to what you want to use the car for. The j series is a nice swap an all but like they say once you go k you never go back
