1996 accord with f23a5
i have a 96 accord with a knocking rod i have a 98 f23a5 i am putting in it what i would like to know is should i or do i need to change the ecu and if so which one should i or do i need to make it run the best
What country you from? F23A5 does not exist here in the US unless it's been imported. That F23A5 seems like a UKDM engine.
And yes, you'll need to use the F23 ECU to keep running like it should.

true. my sister has a VP with the F23A5. non-VTEC version of the F23A1.
which motor are you replacing? is it VTEC or non..? if it's the VTEC motor (F22B1) just think of it as replacing the short block. reuse the original wiring, sensors, manifolds... and ECU. the ECU won't know the difference. on the other hand, if it's the non-VTEC (F22B2) the manifolds won't swap over, but you should still be able to get most sensors to hook up just the same. it may take a little rewiring to get it right though.

@ gillis, hopefully the OP will chime in here soon, if not you could try PM'ing him regarding this topic to get his take on it.
I'm about to do this swap and have been searching for others who have done it. Not much out there. This link is about all I can find, specifically post #4 by Fireman142: 23 swap in f22 car?
I think there's two ways to do the swap.
It'd be helpful if the OP came back to say how it did the swap.
The f23 block is a cheaper better choice in my opinion and is very easy to swap into the car. Everything bolts up, tranny and all. You need to swap the dizzy, egr valve, exhaust manifold, fuel rail, injectors, and look into getting an IAC valve adapter plate.
- Keep the F23 intake manifold, which is what Fireman 142 did, above.
- Use the F22 intake manifold.

Sweet thank u so much from what I been lookin at on it all I thought that was what I needed to do I just wasnt for sure it would be ok and im takin ur advice on using the f23 fuel rail the objectors are bigger so man thank u thank u we didnt have the money to buy another motor n I so hoped this would work I keep everybody posted when I get it runnin
