Default Think Clutch is slipping? Need diagnosis, Please help.

My clutch/tranny seems to be acting funny. I think its slipping but im not sure because it's never happened to me before. When I start out in first gear it usually feels like it doesnt grab, and sometimes when i shift it kinda jerks. Also the clutch makes a chattering sound, and it feels kinda shakey/jittery. For the past month and a half its been hard to shift into 2nd & 4th gear. Let me what you think is going wrong. I think its time to replace the clutch?
BTW the car is a 96 ls. 86k miles, and on the original clutch.

put the car in 5th while your going about 20mph
then gun it.
if the revs go up but the speed dosent increase
the clutch is slipping.

Well, i just tried that and it seems to be going fine. I also found that if I revmatch it, it does alot better and that quickly cycling through the gears seems to be fine also. But when starting in 1st, and stopping anywhere seems like its going to die. Then i took it on an empty road and ran it hard, after that the clutch pedal shakiness kinda went away. Now I can only feel the shake at the very end of clutch release.

Any other suggestions? could it be my shift linkage?

sounds like it could be your synchro's going bye-bye.

if the tranny is reat notchy, and you have a hard time getting it into a lower gear w/o rev-matching..... the synchros are prolly bad.

only way to really check them is to take the tranny off the car and open it up.

usually that's indication of a very very very bad clutch.

I think one of your clutch springs could be working it's way loose. Happened to my 76K mile original clutch. POS still grabbed too, but the springs were loosening.

When your clutch gets serious about dying...it'll smell like ****. Stinky city.

would this explain the chattering noise and if it comes loose is there anyway it could go back in place by itself? Just curious because this happened a few months ago and went away.
