b16 cable tranny help!

Default b16 cable tranny help!

im working on my b16 CRX and i have a friend that is giving me a tranny for free but told me it was left outside over the winter. what should i do before installing the tranny? i was told there is something i could dip the gears in to make sure they dont rust but no sure what it is. any advise would be great thanks H-T!

i would fill it with oil and spin it over and go thru all the gears and drain it out ...hopefully all of the debris should come out


or open it up and clean everything by hand and reassemble

should i put anything on the gears when i open it up? or will it be ok if i just make sure there isnt any debris inside the tranny?

Was the speedometer assembly left in the trans or was the speedo left out? If the speedo was left out it may have gotten water inside which is no good. If it did get water inside... I would open it up and check it all out before you go and install the transmission. Will give you some piece of mind!

not sure if speedo is on there or not. if water got inside what would be the best thing to do?

If water got inside I would open it up and make sure its still good and not rusted..just depends how much water got in?? Check and see if speedometer gear assembly is still in or atleast plugged with something.

thanks for the help ill have to check and see if speedo is there i havent seen it. my friend just told me if i wanted it i could have it and the reason i want it is because it already has lSD
