Okay, I know that e85 makes a lot more power than 93 but just had a quick question if I wanted around 380 to 400whp what injectors would I need? I have rc750s right now but I know i can reach that on 93 but i want to know on e85 I can adjust my fuel pressure if i have too. I would like to tune on e85 or should i just stick to 93 since I only want to be around 400. My real question would be could I reach my goal of 400whp on e85 or just stick to 93. thank you!

You're on the cusp of using whichever you want. Pretty much comes down to how available E85 is for you, and you'll need 1000s to get the job done on E85.

E85 obviously will give you a lot more wiggle room for detonation and all of that as well, burns cooler and 104 octane ftw.

I'm sure you know all of the pros and cons, pretty much just use the one that works out the best for your situation.

 

Yeah, I do not want to get new injectors and **** so I'll just stick to 93 or there is a couple places around me too that sell like 103 or something like that. I think I'll just stick with 93. haha

 

If you have somewhere that sells 103 near you, and you can afford it all the time, then jsut tune on that.

 

E85 is like cheap race gas It is cheaper than 93 but you burn a bit more, so it balances out. What doesn't balance out is the extreme resistance to knock and the cooling effect it has in the combustion chamber. I ran nothing but E85 for several years. Just make sure to watch air fuels when they change blends with the various seasons.

exactly the cooling properties of E85 and less chance of knock is the real benefit here

Depends on the injectors. Some run decent up at higher fuel pressure, like the ID1000s and some do not. If you have an adjustable regulator on there, you can always try it and see. It's not the right way to do it....but it can work There are injector calculators out there that can tell you if they will be enough or not. Most of them have provisions to tell fuel pressure.

 

I'm upgrading my Hondata s200 to the s300 and moving from RC 550s to Precision 1000cc. I have already had it tuned for 91 octane (I live in AZ) and with the new set up I am going to have it also tuned for 109 octane. Anyone know if I can run the E85 on the 109 map, or do I need to have it tuned separately for the E85?

 

For the pressures you'd need to run on RC750's it wont work.

Two totally different fuels man. Probably a lot of the timing will be pretty close, boost levels pretty close, but fueling requirements will be way different and fueling targets will be a little different (I run them a bit leaner on E85).

 

Ya, I took the Hondo in for a tune today and my tuner said E85 is the way to go, especially if you are not worried about gas milage. He said that you can bump the boost way up and it has such a great cooling effect that it even runs well in the summer. If I find a station close to me that has it, I will probably tune it for that. 109 octane at $9.18 a gallon is not cool. Oh BTW, half way into the tune my oil pump took a ****. Didn't even get a chance to tune on the 109. Sucks! I think we caught it in time so that no real damage has been done, hopefully. Guess I will find out when I take it apart. Think it's time for an Endyn oil pump and Fluidampr..........

 

I like E85. We are about to start this weekend on a 2.5l Subaru with ID2000 injectors and a 6262 turbo on E85. I got the 93 tune 90% roughed in tonight after dealing with an issue on one of the two new Aeromotive 340 lph pumps. Going to be fun!

 

op have you looked into running meth injection. the types that are boost controlled or ecu controlled and the amount being sprayed. I wish i would have went this route because of the small gas tanks.(really i have had to carry a extra 5 gallons of E85 in the trunk on trips).

I have a hx-35 7 blade so 400 will not be a probably.

 

E85 is the ****!! Went into the dyno session with 384whp @ 16psi on 91 octane, came out with 520whp @ 26psi on E85. I am now maxing out the 1000cc injectors, but for $3.15 a gallon.......cheap thrills.
