How strong are d17 pistons?
I had a d16Y8 block w/ z6 head. Vitara/Scat/Klevite. Recently it blew nasty, I spun atleast 1 bearing.. And today after taking it apart, my Vitara's are scorched (so idk if they are usable again), my head is a bit burned (although it seems ok), my oil pan is filled with metal, both shavings and large chunks/slips. And 1/4 inch chunks of aluminum (looks like block). So idk if anything is useable from that block (hopefully the rods are good). Now for the second part.
I got a JDM d15b block from my friend a couple weeks ago, with stock D16 rods and D17 pistons. Now since my d16 is so ****ed, I was considering notching the d15 and putting the rods in there (after i take them to a machine shop to see if they are ok). So how much power do they handle? I cant seem to find anything about them

ehhhh, id have to guess no. I mean with a really good tune you might get away with it but theres no safety margin. bad gas, little bit of detonation and you're back at square one

how bad are they scorched? if the od isnt scored too bad you can normally just scotch brite the marks out.
best bet is to measure the pistons and see if theyve gone out of round
