Coaxials and OEM tweeters..how to go about wiring these?
whatsup peeps so basically I have polk audio 6.5" coaxials in my front door panels, no amp just running off the Pioneer HU. I just picked up a set of OEM door tweeters, how should i go about wiring them or hooking them up to my stereo. Do i need crossovers, or should i ditch the coaxials get a set of components and use my tweeters in place of the aftermarket ones. Im very confused, any help would be appreciated

I have a similar setup in my Integra, stock tweeters and aftermarket coaxial 6.5" speakers. I just ran them in parallel, which reduces the impedance, which increases the load on the amplifier. My amp is fine with 2 ohms (and it probably isn't that low since a stock tweeter is probably 8ohms anyway) but a headunit might not like that too much.
One of these days, I should just disconnect the tweeters. No reason to have 2 different tweeters trying to compete with each other.

This is just my opinion. I wouldnt even bother with the OEM tweet intsall. Two seperate twets would probably sound extremely bright (harsh). The OEM tweets aren't very good anyway. The ones in the co-ax Polks are superior hands down. Plus if you don't place them near (as close as possible) to the Polks you will discover the meaning of "listening fatigue" quickly. You didn't state which Polks you have but they will definetly sound better than OEM so adding anoteher OEM wont make it "sound" better, most likely will interfere with the detail of the Polks.
Or you can forget everything I just said and get a decent set of components, a small amp and small sub and then you will be addicted, like me!

i think im just gonna ditch the coaxials in the front and grab a set of Polk component speakers. Im gonna be running the components off the head unit since im already running my 10' type E sub off a monoblock alpine amp. unless i can somehow split a monoblock for the amp and the two front sets of components? Thinkin of removing the stock tweeters from the OEM housings and fitting the polk tweets for an OEM superb sounding system....
I think getting the components is a better choice. If your dead set on retaining the OEM location of the tweeters that is your choice. It would be better keep the component tweeters as close as possible to the mid drivers, prefferably angled towards the dome light. Check out CDT Audio's website, click on the "installs" link and have a quick read.
Something else you should look into, check the manual for your head unit to see if you can bridge the front and rear channels to obtain a little more power for the components up front. You will lose the rear speakers if you are using them when you bridge the fron and rear channels. The components you choose should be within the power output of your head unit.
You shouldnt use that mono amp for the full range speakers you choose, its a clas "D" and isn't desiged for clarity and stereo operation.
You could look for a small (45x2) two channel amp here in H-T's classifieds and hook it up to the front components that and the sub you have in your trunk will sound excellent, you will not miss the rear speakers one bit.

thanks alot for the help bro! really appreciate all of your input. Im going to go with components for the fronts and im looking into my options as far as a good affordable 2 channel amp to drive the components that way i can still run my two rear coaxials but give the two front components a little more oomph!
