Default Price opinions on Built motor

Whats up Honda-Tech, i've been approached with an opportunity to pick up a built d17 locally..I figure nice and easy it'll drop right in..Seller wants 2000 bucks, in my opinion the motor realistically worth anything near that..it's a single slammer, and noone gets back what they put into it..I've provided a list below of what would be included in the purchase.

D17 BLOCK BORED OUT TO A 76MM WITH A BLOCK GUARD
CUSTOM 76MM FORGED ALUMINUM PISTONS WITH COMPRESSION RATIO OF 8:1
CROWER TITANIUM RACING SPRINGS AND RETAINERS
SUPERTECH BLACK NITRAIDED COATED STAINLESS VALVES FOR NITRESS AND OR HIGH BOOST APPS.
CROWER STAGE 2 TURBO CAMSHAFT
FORGED PUTER CROWER CONNECTING RODS
ARP HEAD BOLTS
NEW ALTENATOR AND STARTER
NEW GATES RACING TIMING BELT
D16Y8 CAST IRON MANIFOLD
ALUMINUM OIL PAN TAPPED FOR OIL RETURN FOR TURBO

Wiring and ecu for motor is not included.

Like usual, I plan on lowballing him and working from there..what i'm asking from you is to simply give me your opinion on what the motor is worth..Thanks guys

How did he get a d16 manifold to fit a d17 block? Do you have pictures of it? They are not interchangable.

The D16Y8 intake manifold can be put on a D17, it's commonly used on motor builds because it flows very well.

It's more common for it's ability to withstand higher intake manifold pressures then the stock plastic intake manifold, though.

An engine like that, I wouldn't pay much more then $1,250 for... especially since it's just a D17.

No problem. For $2,000 you can get a decent K-series drivetrain bud.

Yes i'm aware of that..my current motor has a 177k, I figured if I could pick this up cheap..i was planning on offering like 800 bucks, like you said, it's a d17.. I think it would be worth the money for what it is..

Offering less then half the asking price won't get you very far with most sellers, bud. I typically ignore offers that are beyond 20% below my offering price.

Also, keep in mind, that it's typically $500 or so for a used D17.

I don't know many people that will pay that asking price for this motor, if the seller needs the money like he says he'll take it..if not, it's not worth it to me.

I assume your car has a manual transmission and you have KPro, because running Stage 2 cam smoothly without KPro will be difficult.

Absolutely, I would purchase a kpro for sure. Manual transmission, yes.

I would start with a offer around $1100, also would not hurt if you had intentions to turbo. No sense in spending that much on a built d17 if you don't intend to throw some boost at it.
