Default a2 head on a a3 block

I owned before a 2002 civic with a d17a1 engine(non vtec) and swaped the head for a a2 and instaled a Vafc 2 to control the vtec, what i want to know is if i can do the same thing on the k20.

Thank You!

*sigh*.......the k20a3 bottom end is crap, the crank is not counter ballanced, rods are crap, compression is lower and you will need kpro to work the motor....a2 heads are just comming into power when you should shift to keep the a3 bottomend alive.......been covered 8 ways from sunday....search is your friend.....

First of its impossible that you swapped the head of a D17A1 for an A2 because it would work! Nothing would match up! Dseries can't swap heads with an K20A2

i had been thinking about some thing similar.

what about using an K24a2 head? the cams are profiled to a similar rpm range as the A3. obviously it wouldnt be making as much power as an A2 but im sure it would help the EP get up and go.

At ur place i would read the question before commenting! On d17's u can put a vtec head on a non vtec block without kpro... Just with a VAFC2 that controls the vtec and ppl that repond with: "search is ur friend"... *sigh* read my question for god sake i'm not a freAkin noob askin' if i can put an a2 head on my a3 ok? I don't want to know what would u do! I'm not alot on this forum but it dosen't means i'm a noob so pls can anyone answer my simple question pls?
Can i make an a2 head work on my a3 block with a simple VAFC2?

you may be able to squeeze by but i personally wouldn't try it. Kpro may cost more but i would go that route so you know it will run correctly and not too lean(or rich)

Thx for the answer, but a kpro-1000$ VAFC2-150$ and i already hAve it, on the vafc2 u can poorly adjust the a/f ratio u can doa bit of tuning on it even tho it dosen't compare to kpro.

No disrespect, but you need to write a coherent sentence first, and ask that it be read properly as you have intended to be read by the others viewing your post...

If I may, did you mean to write this:

"I own 2002 civic with a2 head swap. Can I install an a2 VAFC2 to control the vtec? I did similar thing when I installed vtec head on my non-vtec d17a1 engine."

If so, I've read someone attempted this, but ended up going with Hondata product shortly after having such difficulty running it properly. The issue was, you'll have very difficult time finding feasible tune to make it work to get the full potential out of it while running properly. I hope this helps. GL!

I'm not sure what's ur question, but it's a Acura Rsx with a k20a3 and full leather interior, moonroof... Full option. Maybe this is just in Canada.

No one can tell me if it works? Even if i know that the block dosen't suports the rpms. Cuz i want to get boosted and a low compression block would be better.
I would appreciate if anyone could tell how it sounds.

To all you trying to correct me on engine here... please tell me that when someone refers to an A2 around here it stands for a K20A2... he is talking about D17 SOHC. I know there was a 127hp 111tq vtec engine D17a2.

If you go reread the first sentence just like Kev notice it sounds like he was saying he had a "k20"A2 head on a D17A1.

Also to answer your horribly written question, don't bother wasting your time with the VAFC2! You will not see any great gains at all if any... Save your money and get KPRO.

Trust me when I say this you won't regret it. The VAFC2 doesn't work great with the Kseries!

I asked around, and as others said already, it won't work properly on k's as it may have on d17's. You'll run into some limits to tuning capability and get full potential out of it.
