I'm going to be swaping out my blown D17A2 for another D17A2 tomorrow morning. Just wanted to know what to look out for. I heard alot about ECU problems. Its coming straight from an EX(same model I have).

 

If you're swapping the exact same engine in, you should have no problems.

no reflash needed?

 

If the ECU isn't being changed, there should be no need. The ECU will re-adjust the fuel maps from the primary oxygen sensor.

 

Why would you need to?

If you changed the ECU, the Immobilizer or the keys, then yes, you'd need to reflash it.

worst thing happened right meow....I picked up my car today finally from the engine swap. Everything was good until I got to the bank. Turned off the car did my thing and went back to my car....Engine barely turned on(like if your battery is low) Didnt think much of it just figured it was because i had my car off for about a week. I was leaving my gf driving for about 10 min then everything went down hill from there....my lights completely turned off car wouldnt accelerate ....cruise control went on ABS went on battery went on pretty much all the lights....car was sounding so nasty i just pulled over turned it off.....waited....tried to turn it back on and battery was low....got it back on same **** all over again couldnt accelerate that much and lights were all crazy...WTH IS WRONG?!?!

 

want to take a wild guess and say its my alternator but could that really mess with every damn light showing on my dash and making my engine make a sound like if i have no gas

 

whoa... so it ran and then suddenly became shitty? hmm... check your alternator to see if it's charging the battery correctly... damn sucks to hear.... i'm clueless about what else to do now =\

 

yeah man I just made a turn onto Azusa and all of a sudden it started doing all this crap. Im lucky it was real close to home haha or I be calling another tow truck and what makes it even worse is i just dropped money on new rims,tires and coils lol dammit! I hope its nothing big

well the guy lagged it. I got up at 5AM to check everything. Ended up being the two ground wires that connect to the fuse box in the engine bay. They were lose lol connected them, replaced a fuse and wallahhh my car is up and running...thanks again man for the engine runs so smooth with my new clutch lol

 

haha woot sounds good! i was gonna mention the grounds but didn't think they were the true problem. Good to see everything is running! Come out to a meet one day, we have/had a socal 7thgen group for awhile and new members are joining fast xD
