Installing Civic Si Steering Wheel on '09 Civic EX
Hello Honda-tech. My name is Paul and I'm new to the forum. I have a 2009 Civic EX Coupe with a 5-speed manual and black cloth interior. It has just under 20,000 miles on it and it's 100% stock right down to the air filter.
I just sent Honda an $11,000 payment last Friday, so it's all paid off now. I figured now that I don't have a car payment anymore, I can afford to spend a few duckets making it a little nicer to drive.
My little car, affectionately known as "the toaster" is what I use to drive to and from work. I don't plan to modify the motor/trans/suspension since this is strictly my daily driver. I'm a mustang guy and do performance stuff to that car.
However, one of the nicest mods I ever made to my Mustangs was a nice fat leather-wrapped steering wheel. Through a little searching on the internetz, (and this forum) I found that the Si has such a wheel, but the EX doesn't get it.
My questions are:
- Can I just buy the Si wheel from a dealership (or online) and install it? Is it a direct swap? I can't imagine why it wouldn't be, but I wanted to verify.
- Where's a good place to purchase this wheel, and what should I expect to pay?
- Is there anything else that I need to know when installing this? I'm a reasonably competent mechanic with a well-equipped garage.
Thanks for the advice!
Paul.
