A little too much overlap to deal with. Go with the pro1s only if using a turbocharger that is 61lbs/min or larger (I.e. GT35R size or above). Otherwise, OEM GS-R or Type R would suit the need just fine.

not trying to take over your thread but I thought it might fit in somewhat with your question.
I am running a lsvtec with a billett 6262 .82ar, gsr head........ im shooting for 550+whp. I found a set of skunk2 tuner stage 2 cams for a cheap price. would these be much better then my gsr cams? or would they be worth putting in?

I think you're the same realm as the pro1s for that, just that the low profile (non-vtec) part of the cam is smaller than then the Pro1 ramp. That means that the tuner 2s may have to be worked with a little more on the cam itself as opposed to the drop in for the Pro1s.

In other words, yes, better than a pro2, but you gotta tune the cam at the cam gear to get it to be as potent as the Pro1.

Where did this threshold of 61lbs/min come from?

It pretty much based upon a LOT of testing and platforms done in which it was found that those in the 60lbs/min to 61lbs/min or higher benefited the most throughout (what little was left) of the powerband. (61lbs/min are like SC61s, GT35Rs, S362s, etc)

So the GT3076R is defintely too small? I have a 3076-13 (700177-0013) which is rated at 60lbs/min. I am making 500hp at 25psi with ITR cams now. Id like to upgrade cams and push 30psi which I hope will net more than 575hp. Can I squeeze into Pro1's territory or am I stuck with Tuner1's?

I remember this turbo. its actually a little lower than 60lbs/min (about 55-57lbs/min). the -13's data was never updated from their database over the years, because it was discontinued (for the most part)

Based upon what you have, I'd stick with the tuner 1's and be done.

If Pro1s will work in a engine then Pro2's will make more power everywhere.

Do you care to go more in-depth with your theory? I know there are hard facts out there that prove otherwise. There are other things like exhaust size, backpressure, compression and manifold design that come into play, not just turbo size. Maybe in a high comp motor they might pick up something in certain app's if you can dial out all the boost being pushed out the exhaust... cam selection is different in F/I vs NA this well known.

Yeah, I've seen it happen on Pro3s, but that was not the question.

Since it is only my "theory", why bother. You seem to know everything.

Really, I guess this was another one of those "theorectical" guesses.

Anything will make more power than a set of turbo cams on a vtec engine LOL. Show a comparison from pro1's to pro2's would be better suited for the discussion.

I don't know about anything but Pro2's worked better in higher boost.

As for a comparison, between the two. I can't post information that is not mine. I only told you what I've seen. If you don't believe me, np. It is only a "theory". I know what I'm running and it is not Pro1s.

Oh im not being a jerk in any ay, The pro2's will absolutly make more power than turbo cams on a vtec engine. Oem gsr cams will too. I know the pro2's will make more than gsr cams but i dont thkn theywould make as much as pro1's because of the amount of overlap.

I've always been told by multiple tuners that pro2s have way too much overlap for FI applications. Pro1s or even ctr/itr cams would be a more practical choice...

If your going with a 3076r just stick with the tuner 1's. However the pro1's made great power on my friends turbo civic, made 543whp at 23psi race gas. Tuner2's I would not use for a 30r as i had them on my old 30r set up and way too much overlap an back pressure.

Your friend's civic had a 30R as well?

Are Tuner1s even worth upgrdaing from ITR/CTR cams? Ive yet to see a ITR/CTR vs Tuner1 cam comparison. Only vs Pro1s.

Honestly you gain a little hp stepping up to tuners form what ive gathered from peoples dyno charts, imo when your makign alot of power you dont even feel a 20hp difference and if its not an all out drag car just stick with your itr/ctr cams. there proven time and time again to be great and oem reliability and driveability
