Default molding?

i have a question, i bought a car that is a 89 cr-x ... now you know the 89's come with taller flat moldings, but the car has a 91 cr-x sir front, with shorter, thicker molding. my questions is, wud 88 bumper moldings fit on this jdm front bumper, or how would the car look with 90-91 body moldings all around, since i think the body groove for the molding is bigger than the shorter molding... has anyone done this? or perhaps i shud take the moldings off completely?

the bumper moldings do not come off...they are molded into the plastic. I dont know for sure but Im pretty sure that the 90-91 moldings will not fit correctly into your doors and fenders. You can install the 90-91 rear bumper but you may have to keep your side moldings. I would stay away from taking the side moldings off but thats only because I think it looks ugly without them. Your best bet in my opinion is finding an 88-89 front bumper

my opinion is, buy a usdm one then. You can get one brand spankin new from your local dealership. If you wreck, or someone wrecks into your car, your insurance WILL NOT pay for you to import in a jdm bumper or pay you the $$$$$$ you think the bumper was worth. Yes they look cool and all but technically, the jdm bumpers were not offered here in the US bc they dont meet the safety requirements for low speed impacks. Now if you had a pure show/ weekend car then maybe Id get the jdm stuff but if its your dd or you park on the street or anything else that could cause risk of damage to your car, id stick with oem.

OR just deal with the trim difference bc only other crx or 4th gen civic owners will notice anyway. All the kids on your block will still think your crx is cool even if you are missing parts and have primer spots all over it

just my 2 cents
