Default Car WILL NOT start - AEM Series 2 setup Box/EPM/Twinfire/Coils

I am posting this as a last resort to see if anyone has any type of information. The rundown is the following...

AEM Series 2 box
AEM EPM
AEM Twinfire
AEM coils

Setup is wired as a wasted spark setup, everything is wired the right way to AEM's specs. The car WILL NOT turn over and I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem with the series 2 stuff. It will crank, and that is all that we get out of it. The car has fuel, and spark. All parameters are reading what they should read..basically everything is there, reading and working where/how it needs to be...but it will not start.

Has it run before?

Are you getting stat sync on the AEM as it cranks?

If yes, have you checked for fuel and spark?

Did you guys open the aem box and switch the 2 jumpers to run the cops? It comes from factory to run a distributor ignition. And like they said check to see if stat sync is on if you have already switched the jumpers.

I had problem when I went cop with aem. I used aems diagram on how to wire it and it wouldn't start. So we pulled cop and insert the plugs into then found out fire order was wrong. So then I just placed them in the correct order and wala started on 1st fire.

The car isn't infront of me so I have to make a 45 min trip just to look at it. I believe the car has back-fired when shut off a couple times though, I was told just a loud bang and a massive fireball out of the downpipe.

manually trigger the coils. ****, I can't remember which menu this function it is in, but you set it up to trigger coil #1, and have the trigger off the tps sensor, say at 20% and go out to the engine compartment, with engine not running of course, and open your throttle plate, and it should fire the coil at 20% tps input. then go to#4, #3, #2 and make sure that coil fires when you tell the software in the menu to. so when you call for #1 to fire it's not firing some other coil. I'll try to look up where in the menu that is, but I had some misfire issues when I first hooked up my stuff. but using m&w ignition instead.

easiest way to check is pull all coils out,,, leave them hooked up and ground them ,,, pull the epm out and manually spin it,, and watch the fireing order of the coils, make sure it is fireing the rite way. and if a coil does not fire at all it is either no good or the coil driver is no good

^ its under "coil options" and uncheck all the ones you don't want to fire, then go to "configure outputs" and select in the menu half way down, that you want the tps to trigger that output. make sure all the others in that menu will be met also, so that one of the variables isn't letting you fire that output. When you want to switch which coil you want to test you need to go back to the "coil options" and deselect the one you tested and select the next ouput to test. Hope this helps. I usually open "coil options" first, then "configure outputs" so both are open, and you don't have to go back and forth. This is with "AEM Pro" so Hopefully the newer v2 has these options in the same place.

Check your ignition phasing and make sure its correct .
Disconnect your fuel pump somehow, with a timing gun check to see where your timing is at .
If you need help with this send me a pm .

Sounds like the sync position is not correct with the default value that AEM gives in the wizard for the EPM. Shoot timing on cranking with a dial back light and see where its at. At some point in time AEM changed the way the EPMs were assembled in relation to cam/crank positions in the housing and the sync position needs to be changed to match.

I also have this set up but haven't put it into the car yet. I did call AEM yesterday and the tech confirmed that the pfd on the forum is right. http://forum.aempower.com/forum/inde...c,23518.0.html .

James,

I heard you got yours started! If it hasn't been figured out by then, I guess it is certainly worth a shot. Thanks man!

Damn man we need to get your s*** running. I doubt I'll be racing anytime soon so one of us has to get out there. Let me know if I can do anything to help.
