Default possibly a bad caliper?

Hello,

When I installed new rotors and pads on my Honda Civic, something didnt seem right. On the passenger side would spin without any friction/tension from the brake pads or caliper... But when you go to do it on the drivers side and spin it by hand, it would go about 3/4 of a turn, then everything would tense up and be hard to turn at all. I really had to keep turning on the extended wheel studs i installed for it to get out of the lock...... Is there chance that the caliper is getting "stuck" so to say on a side?

Thanks again. Any help on this is appreciated. I will also end up going back and take apart the caliper if advised to to lube up the parts.

Take it apart again and make sure everything is where its supposed to be. Make sure you grease the calipar slides and also have brake stuff on the bake of the pads.

Ill take a look once I go to do my rear disc conversion. I know it went back together right, just wasnt aware if one of the sides was sticking.

Is it sticking in the front or rear? I just redid everything on mine as well, passenger rear was completely siezed, so Advanced Auto for $43 new caliper. The drivers side I took apart, re-lubed and put back on. However, it seems to have trouble releasing completely after the emergency brake is engaged. I can pull it fully back by hand. May be a worn out spring not allowing it to fully retract, or could be the inside cam just rusting out. I'm gonna spend another $43 and get a new caliper for this side as well.

Check that though and if there is any doubt, just spend some money and replace it. Its not all that much, and might I add, an important part to your car :-)

when i did my GSR F/R brakes on my EG it felt like that too even though i got new pads and resurfaced the rotors.. what i ended up doing is putting them through hell (get them really really hot) and parked it in gear overnight (leaving the e-brake up after you got your brakes really hot can warp your new set up) and the next day they felt awesome..

@ BDoggUT34

You know, someone told me the same thing that you can get a new caliper for $43.... I can't find them anywhere!

@Spitfire8o5

You know, that sounds like a plan.... I probably shouldnt do that where i go for a long drive,then put on my ebrake.. I will let you know what comes of it once I use the gear to park it instead. Thanks.

I'm in Ohio and went to Advanced Auto Parts. Check your local parts stores and find out. They also may be giving you a price that includes the core. Its actually like $73 but i gave them my bad one and you get that core price back which was $30.
