HOW TO REBUILD YOUR SPEED SENSOR
TOOLS NEEDED:
10mm socket and ratchet
Bottle of supper oil or motor oil will do.
Small flat hear driver
A set of "O"ring from any auto store
WD40 to help clean out chambers.
A rag you don't care about getting dirty.
FIRST
Locate the speed sensor on top the transmission, its where the starter is but next to it up by the firewall. There is a 10mm bolt holding it down. You will need to remover to lock pin that holds the speed cable in place and unhook the oil feed lines.
Now that you have it out, there are 2 10mm bolts that you take off.

Now pull it apart but do it slow so nothing pops out on you. Here is what it will look like.

You will see 2 gears inside the housing, pull them out but look out, there is a pin on the shaft that you need.

Here is it taking apart.

Now pull the gear/shaft out.

Now hold up the bottom part of the sensor, you will see a center piece that keeps the shaft in place, with a small flat head, pull it out without scratching the shaft.

Now there is a small seal inside the housing that looks like a crank seal. You can get this at any Honda store.Push it out with out scratching the wall. Use a socket to push the new one in.
Part#91313611010/cost is $2.54

You will also need to replace the O rings. One is a big one inside the housing and the other is on the part that go's in the transmission. I got this O ring kit at Auto Zone for 5 bucks.

Now the top part of the sensor, you have another little seal that is different then the other one but looks the same. Push that out and with a socket, push the new on in. Part#91304/pt0/000_cost is $3.02

Now putt the gear shaft back in but oil it and the housing. You should also take the time to clean and oil the oil chambers and gears and so on. I used this stuff.

Now get the shaft center piece and oil it and slide it back on.

Now put the pin back on the shaft and reinstall the 2 gears.

Put the top part on and tighten it all up.

Now put some oil inside the feed tub and spin the gear,if everything is right, the oil should come out the other tub.

Now you're done. Way better then buying another one IMO.

Nice diy.
I happen to be rebuilding my speed sensor/power steering unit as well since it was leaking power steering fluid all over the place. I just wanted to ask you about the part numbers you posted regarding the two inner 'cam' style seals. The part numbers 91313-611-010 and 91304-pt0-000 are for the upper and lower o-rings on the outside of the unit...not the ones you are using the socket to punch in/out those seals. What are the part numbers for those seals?..I cannot find them anywhere. Also, did you replace the large o-ring that connects the two upper and lower parts together?..did that part come in the universal o-ring kit from autozone? Please let me know...as I don't want to pay the $180 the dealers are asking for this part. Thanks!
