97 civic hx coolant leaking from thermostat housing

Coolant is leaking from housing why would it leak is the thermostat bad it still read on the gauge is it just the gasget can it go bad

Just buy a new thermostat from the dealer. It will come with the gasket. I really doubt that the housing is crack.
