Icon3 94 Half Shaft / CV installation problem

94 accord sedan, 5 speed manual, 120k

In the process of suspension / front end overhaul including upper control arms, ball joints, new half shafts, brakes, etc. It's all been going smooth, until I've tonight reached the passenger side Half shaft. Noted, the shaft is absolutely identical to the original, and double checked part numbers and it is indeed the correct shaft for the passenger side. I've got the shaft in about three quarters of the way, and it stops. Now I'm completely aware that the end of the spline "clicks" into place with the ring, but I cant even get near there. The old shaft goes into place, clicks in without much problem, but the new one just wont make it all the way in. I've double checked the ring clip on the end which is identical as the old, spine size, number of teeth, all matches exactly. Now I cannot get the new shaft out, and it is stuck in it's 3/4 of the way in position. . . and when I say stuck, I mean STUCK. What the $%^&* is going on? Has anyone else had this issue with installing the shaft into the trans on this side? Is this an inherent problem? what do I do? Please anyone with good half shaft experience please help. This isn't my first time changing CV shafts, but this one's got me stumped.

When installing new shafts, you are supposed to make sure the C-Clips "set rings" open end is on the top, otherwise the two ends can get mangled a bit and create what you are describing.
Try rotating the axle 180* and pull on it again.
