I have a 93 civic eg hatch with rear disc brakes non abs. my stock prop valve went bad so i replaced it with a 40/40 prop valve the stock one was a 40/30 or 30/40. i Was wondering do i need the integra master cylinder to go with the 40/40 valve? Thank you.

 

you should be good with just the 40/40.. do a little more research tho

I have the 40/40 on there but the stock one was like a 30 40 or somthing like that and my brakes still feel spongy maybe just needs bled more.

Only if you put DC brakes in front.

Try bleeding the brakes a bit more.

 

about to do the same thing, my 3040 went bad (93 si), and couldn't find a replacement, so was gonna swap a 4040 on it

 

Some sedans with rear drums used the same prop valve. Compare part numbers to a '92 - '93 Si hatch and see what else uses the same valve.

 

Taking a look behind my firewall it looks like the civic DX hatch doesn't have a 4040 prop valve, unless I can't find it. I've seen varying statements about the prop valve in my car. And part numbers even match:

I have a 4040 prop valve I ordered, and I don't see anything like it under my hood.

 

I will try bleeding it a little more and see what happens! I hopes its good I have an event to attend on the 20th and hope the brakes are good lol.

 

yea there are several others that use the 3040, but I dont have access to many junkyards, unless I want to drive 2 hours to el paso, which I suppose isnt out of the question.

 

If the part numbers match they're the same.

Those part numbers are all for '96 - '00 Civics, and '98 Integra. '92 - '95 Civics are different. Basically '92 - '95 Civics and '90 - '97 Integras all share prop valves that look externally identical. '96 - '00 Civics and '98 - '01 Integras share prop valves that look externally identical. These two different styles are completely different and aren't interchangeable unless you feel like bending and flaring a bunch of lines.

 

Which one did you order? You didn't get the EG/DC kind, did you?

No, the prop valve you bought will not fit. Well it will, but wont be a bolt in process.

You bought the wrong prop valve for the your car. That is for EG/DC.

 

I was getting that impression once I got it. And having done some reading all 96-00 civics have the same prop valve, so is it 4040? Because the Si had rear discs from the factory.

Or did EX/si civics with rear discs use a 4030?

 

The CX, DX, and HX use a smaller front disc than the EX/Sis of 96-00, I believe. The EX has the larger front discs of the Si but drums in the rear. So that is why I think they use a different prop valve. If you upgrade to Si front and rear disc brakes, and you have a CX, DX or HX model, you don't have to swap prop valves.

You have the same as a 99-00 SI.

 

They did, 9.6'' to the EX/SI 10.3''

The EX has 10.3''F and drum rear.
Si is 10.3''F and 9.6''R? I think this is correct.

 

Ex/si front brakes are the same IIRC
