Default Is this B18b worth rebuilding?

The timing belt skipped, valves and pistons hit each other, now the block wont turn over. I'd like to rebuild it, but I don't want dive into a money pit. Any input will be appreciated.

Thinking I might need to get a new crank and pistons

You can see where the valves hit the piston =/

The rest of the head looks fine, but I'll probably replace everything just to be safe, or ditch it and go ls-v

looks very minor. dont waste money on a new crank.
jus spend $40 at a machine shop to micropolish it and get a rebuild kit for $300-400 and you have yourself a new engine...well not quite new new. have a shop do a valve job on the head for sure though. it wouldnt cost more then $500 total for everything

and if you did that you would have a new new Ls motor... or spend $1000-1500for another used motor....

Where would I find one of these rebuild kits?
I'm trying to stay away from ebay....for obvious reasons.

Its a waste, around 600 and you can have a b20b shipped to you, you get a 30kish engine, no rebuild bullshit to worry about, and the best part...the 2.0's torque

I would definitely rebuild it, at least you know for sure how many miles will be on it.

600 for a b20b? I won't believe it till I see it.
But anyways, I'm taking the head to the machine shop tomorrow for an estimate.
I found a rebuild kit from rockauto.com that I'll be ordering tomorrow as well.
I want to take apart the block and see if the crank or rods got damaged at all since the pistons aren't lining up at all. Does anyone know of a write-up or something describing a b18 block disassembly?

I've ordered a few from a place I won't disclose cause I make money off kids round here and id be cutting my own throat BUT I just google b20b and found one for 400 not inlcuding shipping.

I've gotten a few from my source for 650 and a the b20z I got for 700, all with under 30k

Just search a lil, b20s are cheap now, even cheaper than if u were to order another b18b

People don't realize this the the casting is the same as a LS, so it would be identical to putting the LS in. You will need to put your LS intake mani on or depending on where u get it they may send you one, my source usually sends a LS manifold with it if requested.

Only other thing u will need to switch is the bracket for the driver side mount, piece of cake its 3 14mms

Motor mount, torque mount is the same (I don't use them) and the t bracket from the ls fits right on.

True dat!
Imma get a b20b and go b20-vtec sometime during the summer.
I'll probably just keep the b18b and rebuild it, maybe throw it in my girls civic.

You have to get the ecu chipped and tuned, timing issues, alot more money goes into that swap than one would think.

LS/VTEC...you do it right the first time or you do it right the 2nd/3rd/4th time.

True that.

You will have to take the same measures as building an lsv when building the b20v.. but done right I'm sure you've seen results before..

Rod bolts are not a big deal to install. Tuning, yes. But whats the point of building a motor if you're not gonna tune it? Someone mentioned timing...whats different about timing it with a vtec head over an ls head? I mean...am I missing something here?

Lol no idea what they meant by timing..

I was just letting the op know there was more to it than just slapping the head on like someone had made it seem.

There's alot of pros and cons to building a LSV and there are several write ups on it. Check into them before hand if it's something your seriously considering. If you're interested you're only about 2-2 1/2 hours from me, I have everything you'll need to do your LSV and i'll offer it to you at a good price. PM me if you're interested.
