b18c/b16a engine clearance in a 88-91 crx.
i've heard people say that they have trouble with clearance on b18c/b16a motors in thier 88-91 crx.
anyways i know that you need the hasport mounts for the swap for the engine to sit lower, but wouldnt the engine be lower to the ground as well? if it is lower to the ground would this be a serious problem for everyday driving? all season? and are those hasport mounts bolt on or welded on.
(i did a search and found alot of info. but i was concerned about this.)

all i've heard of for the b16a is when they use say an aftermarket header made for the b18, where it pivots under the motor at a lower point. in that situation i think it will scrape if your car is lowered enough. as far as top clearance, i had to cut a little chuck out of my hood bracing to clear the valve cover. in addition, i had to remove some of the insulation on the hood so that it would fully close. i dont know if this is rare because i havent heard of other people having the same problem i did. btw i'm using hasport mounts also.
as far the only thing im concern is about the engine being too low to the ground. for the hood im not concerned much about it, hell ill run with no hood
if you use the Hasport mounts you will be fine.
The engine will sit lower than stock but not scraping low...
I beleive the Hasport mounts sit the engine lower but also tilt it at the same time so that it doesn't come out the bottom too much.
I have a b18c1 (taller than a B16) and it barely hangs down - I scraped once when I didn't see a speedbump - but that was my own fault. I had to chop the ribs out of the hood to close it tho.
(BTW my car is lowered on koni yellow and H&R race)
