I have a TSX Motor and a spare Type S K20A2 Head (Is it worth the head swap or not??)
I have a 04 TSX Motor and a spare Type S K20A2 Head. I've been reading mixed answers about the type S K20a2 head casting vs the TSX K24a2 casting but it's not costing me anything except maybe a headgasket to swap. The TSX is going in my car, is it worth putting the type S head on the TSX motor. If not that is it atleast worth putting the Type S cams in atleast because I will be running around stock for a while, so I want to get the most pwr outa what I have for now??????????????????????
Also some say the heads perform the same but what makes me wonder is when being sold type S heads go for about 600-700 but TSX heads go for about 450-550. Just something that makes me wonder???

I'd say its a good idea.. seeing as the type s head has "vtec" on its exhaust side as well... The TSX motors were built with lower compression and more stroke to make tq in order to get it moving...The cams and valve overlap on k24's were addressed accordingly
The K20A2 head will give your motor the free flowing peak hp it desires (Not to mention the 04' TSX utiizes drive-by-wire throttle body which i don't believe is compatible with K-pro) This along with its proven power increases and tune-ability is the reason they are more sought after on the street

The type S head flows more CFM and would be better if you are thinking of upgrading cams/exhaust/headers/bolt ons.
depends on the year tsx if its a 06 08 dont change the head.
06 08 tsx is better then the k20 head...
tsx is not a low compression motor...
fact not guessing

Just an FYI the crv head and k20a2 head have the same ports aswell as intake manifold flange. The only difference is the rsx head has true Vtec where the crv head has one cam Vtec, easy fix run the rocker assembly from the k20a2 head on a crv head. Here's my reasoning.
Sell the tsx head about 500, sell the rsx head without the rocker assembly for about 400. Pick up a bare crv head for 50-75...I have bought 4 of them at 50 a pop. Use the rsx rocker assembly on the crv head. Then the extra cash u have from selling both the rsx and tsx heads can pay for springs, retainers, and valves.

i just dont see this... i'm going to put some ACTUAL FACTS to this thread.
04/05, and the 06-08 heads have REAL vtec,
not like a crv/accord (new 09+ tsx's unfortunatly fall into this category now)
06 to 08 heads HAVE 1mm OVERSIZE intake valves already, and come stock with a nice 64mm dbw throttle body
tsx heads can readily accept the RRC manifold WITHOUT MODIFICATION, rsx-s heads have to have the side machined/cut off, and run a coolant adapter.
i ran across threads (dont have a link) to
a 06-08 head (with 1mm bigger valves) outflowing a lightly ported k20 head.
wikipedia says k24a2's are 10.5:1 compression, and the k20a2/ z1/z3's all being 11:1
I picked up a full k24a2 (2006) to drop in my 07 si, and have had many shops advise that there was no performance gain to be seen in swapping heads
(just use a 50deg vtc gear)
