** please help! d16z6 for a d16y7?
Hey guys;
I have a 2000 honda civic CX 2dr hatchback with a d16y7 in it. I can get a SOHC V.TEC d16z6 for free and want to swap it in since the d16y7 is having some issues and probably won't pass it's next emissions test. Is this possible? I'm getting it out of a car that's on it's way to the dump this week so I can take as much of it as I want, providing I can manage to get it out. PS do you think I can get this engine out without a jack/lift?

you wont pass emmisions with the d16z6. its obd1. grab a d16y8 and the appropriate ecu and you will be better off.
but you can take the engine out from underneath. i've done it. you need 2 jacks and 2 big jackstands.

ok d16z6 definitly not exempt...it has to be around 20 years old
main reason I need an engine swap is because about 2 months ago my d16y7 started reving really high and now it burns much more gas and has barely any power, mechanic said he thinks a piston is stuck... figured I might as well do a swap instead of paying hundreds to get them to figure that out/fix it
