i want to go to a shorter but firmer bump snubber. should i have any concerns over damaging the strut tower?? were would i find, say, urethane bump snubbers??

Progress sells some. The stock arms will hit the inside of the fenders with them.

 

interesting. how short are they?? i've never heard of problems with the upper c/a hitting the strut tower with shortened koni's why would it happen with just shorter bump snubbers?

i think the progress ones are about 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch, and yes you will hit a bit with them

 

Find a tech or engineer familiar with your struts/shocks before changing bump rubbers. They are, surprisingly, part of a fairly comprehensive design in most cases. Bottoming out on the rubbers might be the manufacturer's secret way of telling you that you are too low for the hardware involved.
