Default squeaking brakes

i have a 99 civic si with 67xxx miles on it. Everytime i hit the brakes it makes a loud squeaking sound. i have only owned the car for 6 months and the prior owner did not indicate if the brake pads had been replaced. do you think i just need new brake pads and if so are EBC green stuff good for daily aggressive driving? how hard is it to replace the brake pads? and what steps are involved in replacing them?

Default Re: squeaking brakes (floSIin)

There is a wear indicator on the pads. Basically, a metal tab that contacts the rotor and sqeals like a pig. If the pads are worn down, I suggest OEM Honda pads. They come with the proper shims and grease, and they won't toast your rotor like some harder aftermarket pads.
It's not too difficult to replace them. Keep in mind it's at least your life and possibly someone else's you're putting in jeopardy if you don't know what you're doing. Search around for install instructions.
