Default 1992 ex weird misfire problem

new to the accord world, but have a bit of experience with d and b motors. recently purchased a 92 accord ex not running, supposed story was injectors were clogged. Did compression test all that was good. more history on car has 213,000 miles has a new distributor from o-reillys, coil appears old. o yea car had champion spark plugs, i of course changed them to ngk. also checked injector signal with noid light. Got the car running with a used set of injectors from an accord with 140,000 miles, and a new fuel filter. Also put in a can of sea foam. car runs fine when you drive below 40 or on the hiway 55+ until about 10 mins. after being at 55+ and warmed up starts to miss pretty bad under load and then it backfired pretty big and turned off. It would not start back up until the next morning. thought everything was cool drove it for 20 mins below 40 mph, then took it on hiway 55+ and it immediately starts missing under load. plug wires, cap, look good it will idle perfectly indefinetly it seems. could this possibly be dist prolems, or main relay? thanks

I would concentrate my efforts on making it die and then diagnosing the no-start. Good possibility the misfires are related to what is keeping the vehicle from restarting.

If you're ignoring me, that's just fine. If you think I'm full of crap, that's just fine. If you tried my suggestion and got no results say so.

Have you checked EGR passages? For a 1992, you'll see plugs in the area by the intake manifold underneath the EACV/IACV and FITV. You'll need to a drill halfway into them and get a slide hammer to get them out, and then pick away at the carbon deposits clogging the passages underneath; vacuum everything up, and replace the plugs with new ones - shouldn't cost more than a few bucks at the dealer, and it's possible Autozone lends slide hammers.

Youtube has a couple of good videos about this.

I can't remember if the car will go into limp mode with the EGR valve unplugged, but if it will run while only throwing a code, I would unplug it and see if the problem goes away.

was just looking for other ideas on the code 9. i haven't been able to make it turn off since. just runs real crappy after warmup at hiway speeds. was going down the path with the code 9(cyp senssor). got another dizzy and its still giving code 9, very strange. checked the wiring back to ecu both checked out good for the cyp which code 9 indicates. ive heard if the motor jumped timing a little bit it can set off code 9. mc slide hammer Would the clogged egr passages make it run crappy all the time or just after it warms up?

COde 9 is a cyp sensor problem I would look at the distributor first. Aftermarket housings are notorious for giving cyp/ckp/tdc problems. I have went through 3 or 4 aftermarket housings until getting a good one before.

I think your highway misfire issues are more than likely fuel related. If the injectors were clogged to the point of no run then the tank has to be nasty. Do you own a fuel pressure guage? If so install and give results. If not I would try a new fuel filter. reason I am saying is if the tank was mucked up and the seafoam did clean the tank the debris that was in it is now in the filter again. For no money you could remove it and see what comes out of the inlet side. I 'll bet nastiness comes out.

Either way I think you have multiple issues. Code 9 from a cheap housing and a compromised fuel system.
