Default 2011 Project- RHD CR-X Del Sol from Japan

Every year a new project car falls into my hands. Not sure where i will go with this one as it's both a rhd and an auto to start with But, i picked it up cheap and it needs some tlc. The car was imported to Canada in Oct 08 and went through an extensive out of country inspection as all imported vehicles do. So it got a wack of new seals, some bulbs, axles, belts and a set of tires for the original purchaser.
He was a young person with little clue as to what was tasteful, so he messed it up a bit, but i will do my best to turn it around and save this clean little car

So here it is....a 1993 Honda CR-X Del Sol from Japan. It now has an original 115K in kilometers, about 70 thousand miles original!! NO RUST!

It started out it's life as a nice Captive blue (which i will redo) and got spray bombed by the last owner in a copper with a lousy masking job and a cheap *** body kit of which the rear bumper was ripper off already. Here is how it arrived to me.........

(dirty, and before i do anything to it) Exterior

Inside...

Couple under hood shots....

Aside it being an auto, the car does come with some pretty cool features.........

- D15B vtec engine
- Automatic climate control including A/C
- Gathers speakers
- rear licence plate fillers
- one piece headlights
- in door map lights

Stay tuned as i will begin to de-rice this Del Sol, lol

Its got potential. Once you repaint it and get rid of the body kit it will be decent.

Not sure yet, probably not, as i don't think i will keep it too long. I already have a crx, rsx and an EM1 for summer cars, but i like saving cars and making projects out of them Keeps me busy when i'm not working, lol

Wow, that should be a fun project. Question though, I know that a Mini-Me swap is a SOHC VTEC head on a non vtec 1.6 block, but will the VTEC 1.6 head work on a D15 bottom end? If not, would I just have to look for a head like yours?

Thanks, and what are some of your plans? (Wheels, interior, exterior, etc)

from what i understand, and non vtec 1.5 or 1.6L block with a vtec head swapped on, is a mini me. Both the jdm D15B and the usdm D16Z6 and D16Y8 pretty much share the same design in cylinder head. (i am sure the newer Y8 head may be a touch different as it's newer)

As far as plans...the interior is in wicked condition, just dirty. I just wanted to post before pictures this time, before i touched it, so i can have a good after shot

The exterior....the front body kit front bumper is going in the garbage. I have the oem bumpers, so the front will go back on, the rear unfortunately has a crack in it from the idiot previous owner not knowing how to remove things properly, so he pulled to hard, not removing all the clips and putting a crack in it So i need another oem rear.

The body has two small dents in the left fender, and it needs another left mirror, that's it!!
I will sand down the spray can paint job back down to the original blue. It will take some time i am sure removing over spray from the rubber moldings, but i'll get it done. Then i'll lay over a new primer and refinish it back with the beautiful blue it used to be.

I know the auto tranny and small 1.5 D15 vtec is no powerhouse ha ha, but it is still like brand new. It's got no mileage on it and runs like brand new with the exception of a sweat from the head gasket which i will probably change out.

Wheels, yes, those crx wheels are coming off. I have an extra 6-7 sets sitting in my storage, so i'll find a better option for the car. I'll try and post some progress today

Sapped a couple pics today. The rear bumper is cracked, so i'm not going to use it, but i thought i'd just kind of stick it on there till i'm ready to tackle the body work, just need the snow to go away, lol

close up of the rear wheel arch, no rust, all original metal

Cleaned the interior a little....
