Default Need advice on my suspension setup

Ok I've been searching around trying to find the low down on suspension setups and what equals what. I've got a 91 civic with some D2 adj coilovers and really hate the ride. I used to have some lowering springs, not sure what type since they were on the car when I bought it, snd then I traded them for these coilovers. The ride is slightly smooth but I dont have the wrench to adjust the height and it just feels bouncy and uncomfortable. So my question is what would be the best route to take? I like the car and want to keep it as a DD but I'm getting really tired of having to swerve around every pot hole in the road!!! Lol I just want a comfortable ride with good performance... Price really isn't an option. I would rather buy something that's of good quality then settle for something cheaper.

If you want adjustability, get coilovers again. Ground Control / Koni Yellow is a very popular setup and the quality is excellent. Or you can go with cheaper coilovers like Function & Form Type I's which are also a popular coilover for people on a budget.

If you don't care for the adjustability but still want a spice in handling, go with a shock/lowering spring combo. Pick a spring that drops what you want and get good shocks like Koni Yellows or Tokico Illumina's.

A bigger rear sway bar will also help tremendously with handling if you don't have one already. Don't forget to get a subframe reinforcement brace if you go bigger than 19mm.

Doesn't D2 make street rates for their coilover system? Seems like the cheapest route...

From what I've read most people seem to be genuinely happy w/those coils, as long as their spring rates meet their needs!

Ok so coilover or shock/ lowering spring combo?
I like the idea of being able to change ride height with coilovers but really I won't be changing it that much so really all I want is a comfortable ride with ok handling.
Which would be the best for this?

D2's suck. I have never seen so many pictures of broken coilovers, and hearing many reports of blown D2's. They are a complete waste of money.

Comfort, and handling don't go with slammed cars. When you slam your car both get tossed out the window.

Yes, you can have a decent riding slammed car, but the quality would be no where near that of a slightly lowered car.

You need to figure out what is more important, ride quality and handling, or being slammed..

Because you say money is no problem I suggest you look at AMR at about $1500, or koni/gc $799.

I feel that teins prices tend to be inflated a bit. my brother had Tein superstreets for a while and they were alright. He liked his Koni/GC a lot better. For a lot cheaper.

I agree, it's the whole "JDM" thing.

My friend has Tein RA on his ITR, he said he likes them. But I still feel he was better off spendiing the money on koni/gc or AMR.

Basics have also been known to blow under a 2'' drop. My friend's old EG had them when he got the car. What a joke of a suspension. They are not worth the price.

So you say AMR at about $1500, or koni/gc $799 would be the best choice?
Are these coil-overs? and where would you suggest buying these?

Either of these are very good choices. AMR has a vendor thread here in the marketplace, and they're more like $1200

Koni/GC you can buy from THMotorsports for $799 shipped here in the sponsor marketplace as well.

When you say he makes to your order...? does this mean i tell him how low/high and comfortable i want it and he pre-sets them for me, but i can still change them afterward?

They are coilovers, you can change the height as you please.

He builds the coilovers to your order.

Yes, you can set your rates with AMR. That is part of the hole custom made to your order.

Yes, he does I think it is Andy@ AMR. check the market place, or I"ll check my PM's and see if I can find it.

Most every $800+ suspension setup with coilovers permit you to select spring rates.
