Default Buying an S2000 AP2 2006

Hello,

I just sold my 99 Prelude, and currently looking for an s2000. I found couple that I like, but I was in the ludes world, I don't know much about s2ks,,,

I need your help regarding buying tips,,, you have s2000s and you know them very well. As a new buyer, what should I watch out for when buying and s2000 AP2? what to check for? what to ask?

both of them are 2006 with around 45k on them,, the prices are within range 19k or so,, but at 45k miles, what should be done to the car already? what is coming up maintenance wise,,

I guess the easiest way to ask this, is: if you would go now to buy one after you already owned one, what things do you check for? what raises a red flag? I'm just trying to learn form the best,,

I would appreciate your advice

Thanks in advance

I must say that I searched, and there are so many scattered thoughts which are confusing more. I know I'm not the only one who asked this question before, but I'm just trying to get a straight answer. Also, on the HOW TO page, the Clutch Buzz/All TSB's link doesn't work.
I am planning to get the car inspected at a dealership, but I don't have so much faith in dealers so i figured I ask here just so I can have an educated conversation with the seller,,

Thanks again

There's very little going to be too wrong with a 2006, unless it's been beaten. Check out the history best you can and get a vibe from the driver - have they looked after it?
The roof can be pricey if there is any wear or damage
Independent check is your best bet.

amen to that...and im not sure where you are located, but an '06 with 45k for 19k seems a little steep to me...i see similiar years and mileage go for a couple grand less around here

Illinois, there are only 2 or 3 of them in a 100 mile radius,, I don't have many options

DBS = drive by wire.

Open your search to more than 100 miles. Heck I drove 200 for my element and 800 for my bike.

I have done that before, and frankly I was thinking about widening the search. you just talked me into it.

dbw uses an electronically controlled gas pedal. the feel isnt there, the response is slower and youll probably suffer from rev hang..

there are well taken care of s2k's out there so take your time.
In regards to maintenance these cars dont need much. Dont buy one with a bad top. Thats a 1k job at least. Clutch buzz was taken care of in the ap2s so dont worry about that.
Yess dbw will lose some throttle response but its easier to tune and will produce more power that way so it does have its benefits.
Good luck!

My guess is he is refering to the fact that the DBW S2000s can use Hondata's flash pro to get a few more HP, without the need to switch to complete stand alone.

Though that really isn't because the DBW system allows you to get more HP it is merely because the DBW S2000s have a flashable ECU

With a reflash it will produce more power than an s2000 prior to 2006. This is why i said WITH A TUNE.

I've never driven a DBW S2000, but I fail to see how electronics are slower than a manual cable that I am used to. And that there is enough difference to be noticeable.

Its not that bad on a s2k compared to the civic. With that said flashpro ftw, after that it feels great like a cable throttle.
