Question about weigh reduction
Hi everybody,
the rule of thumb about weight reduction doesnt make sense to me, i know serious professional racers came up with it but in my opinion weight reduction should be more significant
the rule is: "100 pound reduced from vehicles weight will cut .1 (one tenth) of a second in the quarter mile"
in my eg road race car build im doing all i can to cut the weight, removed everything unnecesary all brakets, heater ac etc., cutting holes in sheet metal and chamfering them, replacing body panels with fiberglass and carbon, using lighter components like calipers control arms wheels and whatever posible.
so its hard to believe that if i could reduce 600 pound of my cars weight, i would not gain even a one full second in the quarter mile
there are lots of threads about weight reduction but nothing that talks about extreme weight reduction and its influances, please anybody with any experience or knowledge with some significant weight reduction shed some light on this subject .
all my endless hours and quite a bit of $$$$$ and i wont get some serious aceleration!?!?

On a road course car you can take to much weight out... its more important to have the right amount of weight in the right places that's why ppl will take so much out then turn around and add weight to help
