Default any interest in another import shootout event in the midwest/eastcoast??

Myself and Paul Armstrong(bads2k) have been discussing an import shootout event in July/August at Quaker City Raceway. This event would most likely follow classes similar to IFO or E-towns Fall Nationals. The track is located in Salem, Ohio on the Ohio/Pennsylvania border and has just gone under new ownership. This event would accomodate vendors and have a car show also. Just looking to test the waters and see if you guys would be interested in making the trip. We're shooting for either July 30th or 31st which is a Saturday and Sunday. We're kind of just in the brainstorming process right now and would appreciate your suggestions or opinions for the event. It would be awesome to see a few of the shops in the neighboring states show interest in setting up booths or bringing out cars especially.

We will be speaking with the new track owner soon about possible dates, track prep, cost etc and will be updating this frequently.

I'm 100% game for that event and if it follows IFO I will have two cars there. Let me know details and I will get the word out the Pittsburgh area. I'm sure you can draw quite a crowd from around here.

Everyone should concentrate on the events that already exist. There are tons of races and not that many racers. With everyone on very limited budgets it spreads it too thin. Just my $.02

It would be hard to fill ANY classes in Ohio, in my opinion.

How so? Norwalk was ALWAYS full. There really isn't much for the Ohio, Southwest PA, WV, Mich, Western NY that you don't have to travel 4+ hours to get too.

it takes more than just a few positive responses to throw and event i wish you guys the best of luck what ever you decide to do. it takes alot of resources that are getting thin to throw one of these events. we are doing a west coast shootout in july on the same date and we are currently talkin to some east coast teams about coming out and something like this would create alot of uncertainty for the volume of east coast teams to come. i rent the track on my own we dont piggy back our event to another event. so the event falls totally on my back. this scene needs to work on combineing our efforts so we can reap the benifits of great events and full fields. going back to the way things were will only split the scene and make events that should be very successful, kinda making them look just ok. i urge you to look at your schedule of really rethink ur idea if your better off working with etown guys to make that event much better or ?

If you are talking west coast outlaw I don't think this is what he has in mind so it really wont pull from the outlaw shootout out west. QCR isn't some huge track so it will pull a lot of low budget teams and local guys but I don't think it will pull any of the big names away from your event.

So you complain when there aren't enough events for people to attend now that people are trying to do something you complain that there are too many races?Honestly if IFO could set up an event here then that would be fine because we love how IFO races are setup/ran but that's a decision Cliff would have to make. We know what it takes to organize an event so it won't be an overnight thing just throwing something together. We are here asking the people that actually race here around this area if they would like to see another event where we don't have to travel 4-8 hours for a race.

Again like Adam said this is still in the debating stage but we are looking to make decisions soon so some feedback will help us out. Quakercity Raceway is under new ownership and the guy is a racer himself. New tower, timing system, and track surface is to be done before opening day this season.

Also, post up what you would like to see at an event.

More vendors?
race and car show classes?

this isn't even set in stone and your getting upset that if we have an event it will stop the east coast racers in coming to your event. We are on two totally different sides of the map and not everyone can afford or are able to travel that far to a race. nobodys trying to step on your toes this was just an idea thrown out for the racers that would maybe like to see this happen.

no not about you stepping on toe's you do outlaw events to bring out the baddest of the baddest if we are having an event on the west coast and you on the east. the east
coast guys that possably would come wont if there is something in there back yard. second the resources we all use to throw these events (sponsors, bountys, racers) grow thin. im just giving you my advice. like i said we all need to work together to make what we have better. if you did your event on a different date maybe we would come to support it. we will be in etown and on the east coast alot this year. get my drift?

I'm in and could bring some friends but like you guys already stated this isn't taking away from the ctr event. Especially the first one. But it could bring out allot of fans and people like the ifo events that have no interest in going to Cali for a race.

I'm in for more info.

i dont feel like this event will take away from the west coast event, we arent really planning on having an outlaw class, and the date isnt set in stone. this is being aimed at as more of a grassroots event

Do it like IFO does it. Make a all motor street, FI street, SFWD, all motor pro and FI pro class to get the evo/DSM locals out. Keep me updated and Ill get in touch with as many locals as I can. There really aren't many outlaw cars in the tri state area if any at all.

The honda/acura shootout was there years ago and the timing and track wasn't the best but I have heard that there were huge improvements made since then and new ownership should help too. I would say try Pittsburgh Raceway Park but they are idiots so I doubt they would even allow you to rent it since it is an import based event.
