Default engine knock, going to rebuild

hi guys, been a while and im back w/ another question. my 98 gsr has a bad rod baring and i am going to do a full engine rebuild. not really planning to build it, was wondering if i should hone then order the kit, or just order over-sized pistons being they are no extra charge and just bore it. most ill ever do is maybe type r head guts for a little extra umph.

I'd personally go with an oem itr piston at 81.25mm because if there are any defects in the bore, honing will not remove them. By over boring you gaurantee that you are starting with a good bore. You will get about a 13 or so hp increase at the crank if you use the itr pistons in a gsr motor. The compression will be around 11.4:1 if you shave off the bare minimum from the head and block to ensure a perfect seal.

Throw in an Itr valvetrain, a single runner intake, a good header, and get it tuned. The motor will really wake up and you will have a very solid streetable setup.

well like i said, not really planning on building it, had 1 motor blow on me in my last car due to bad gas and 11 lbs of boost causing detonation, no desire to have that happen again, the fresh sleeves is why i was considering the over-bore, that and the rebuild kit im ordering does not charge extra for over-sized pistons
