Default wiring?

Hey guys, been a long time lurker of the site and it has helped me loads, big thanks for that! But i am finally stumped, bought a 90 lx sedan about a year ago and it has the worst wiring hack job i have seen in my life! I have cleaned everything up and am down to just 2 wires, both yellow with green stripe, harness is strung out on garage floor, need to know which one is gauge sensor wire and which is fan switch, driver side plug has smaller bout 18g wire and the pass. side has a larger 16-14g wire? Any help would be greatly appreciated, i have downloaded about 4 different service manuals trying find the answer lol!

the passenger side yellow/green wire that connects to the square 8-pin plug is for the coolant temp gauge on your cluster.

Alright thanks! I was thinking the exact opposite cause of the wire size difference, i guess years of car audio installing and such makes more practical sense than what a manufacturer does lol!
